Hi.
I'd like to get involved w/ the sport. I'm registered for the novice training on March 20. My insurance company excluded coverage for any "timed events", which presumably includes auto cross. I assume this is normal. So I also assume that there must be temporary insurance available for your events. I've searched and couldn't find any info. How do I find details regarding full-coverage insurance for my car for these events?
Thanks.

Yes, most insurance companies exclude timed events or events on racing facilities. I've seen supplemental insurance for track days (typically high deductible, only make sense for expensive cars) but never for autocross.

The only group that I know of that offers additional coverage at events is Supercar Sensation. It's $50 for the day, probably not a bad idea for $60,000+ cars. I don't know of any autocross group that offers supplemental insurance.
The novice school isn't a competition or timed event, it's driver training.

Yes, check with your insurance company. With most, PDX, or any driver training event is covered, even if its on a track. When it becomes competiton is when it changes and they wont cover you. Thats why you see alot of driver trainging events, even if its open lapping. Plus, your at an autocross, unless you do something REALLY REALLY silly, you will be fine, maybe a cone mark or 2 that will buff out. Never heard of someone wrecking a car do to course fault or another driver.
