2013 SEDIV Mid-Year Meeting
SEDIV Time Trials Committee Report
The 2013 TT Championship Program has started off exceedingly well thru 3 events with 117 drivers competing in 35 classes. The TGPR TT/PDX drew near record numbers of TT entries, TT Students, and PDX drivers. Road Atlanta went to a 2 day TT format which saw their TT entries increase 19% over 2012. Chasing the Dragon Hill Climb increased 60% over last year with an outstanding 72 drivers and stupendous sponsorship. We have not seen Hill Climb entries like that since Chimney Rock. So far in 2013, TT average entries are up 41% from 2012. Our TT website, www.sedivtt.com, has improved tremendously and provides a wealth of information about our TT program.
Chasing the Dragon will repeat on August 3rd. Over Labor Day, we will see the first ever TT held at Barber Motorsports Park which will be in conjunction with a Double SARRC. The September TGPR TT/PDX will be a dual points event and serve as the SEDIV TT Championship Series Runoff much like the SIC. Atlanta is gauging interest in doing a Club Trials event.
Overall, PDX entries are up slightly. CFR's Daytona PDX increased to 78 entries. CFR has a PDX at Sebring in conjunction with their scheduled race on July 20th-21st. This was their 3rd PDX this year with a 4th scheduled for Labor Day weekend. This Labor Day weekend event will be available only to Advanced and Intermediate classed drivers and will use the 12 Hour Sebring “Long Course”. In addition to PDXs run in conjunction with CFR race events, the region hopes to start running standalone PDXs at Daytona or the FIRM (Starke, Fl) later this year or early next year. CFR believes that PDXs will be a strong part of SCCA’s participation growth and is doing all it can to encourage that growth in Florida and SEDiv.

We need to thank the SEDIV TT leadership who have worked hard to make the SEDIV TT Program a success. Ted Theodore CCR (TT Administrator), Craig Farr TVR (TTAC Rep), Mark Rothermel TVR (TTSC Rep), and the TT Committee members: Craig Farr TVR, Art Trier CFR, Mark Kilgore ALA, Shane Findlan CCR, Robert Frazier Buccaneer, Melanie Murray SCR, David McDaniel Chattanooga, and Tom Shuman ATL.
Art Trier has volunteered to become an additional SEDIV Representative on the TTAC. The TT Committee strongly endorsed him and the REs approved.
The TTAC has been working on significantly revising and simplifying the Time Trials Rules. The goal is to remove unnecessary barriers to participation in this program in order to encourage SCCA growth and challenge our competitors with quality and easy entry events that are attractive to those folks that want to “track” their cars but are not quite ready for wheel to wheel racing. Our competitors have had a head start in this entry level type of motorsports activity for a decade or more but we hope to bring SCCA back to the forefront of discussion when folks consider entry into this type of motorsports event.
The TTR will first consist of a Drivers manual for each level (PDX/CT, TT/HC) that is entirely focused on what the driver needs to know. Then there will be a TT Operations Manual covering all 4 TT levels that is focused on the Region Organizers. The PDX Drivers Manual and the TT Operations Manual have been provided to the SCCA BOD for approval. New rules are expected to be effective in January 2014.

Congrats to all regions, drivers and event staff that have worked hard to grow this program and make it FUN! We will continue to do so in 2014! Please, keep remembering that the best way to bring new drivers in to our sport is having our current participants talking to others about what we do and inviting them. Ted Theodore - SEDIV Time Trial Division Administrator
