Member. If you're a member of SCCA and in the CCR region you get the M.

Hey, looks like you got a picture of me giving some instruction as that is the car owner in the passenger seat. Cool! I'd love to have permission to put that up on my personal site. -Biggly And novices.........hands outside the car are a no no.

And novices.........hands outside the car are a no no. Agreed. Had I known he was doing it, I'd have put a stop to it with a quickness. Didn't know until I saw that photo to be honest, and by then it was far too late being a few days after the fact. -Biggly

I left town immediately after the race so I have not had a chance to hit this forum until now...but what a great race. That was without a doubt the most challenging event I have yet to attempt with the new powerplant in my car. By FAR!! I was actually hitting close to 70mph by the end of the straight and while the RPM was passing only 5,000 RPM the rear tires were spinning on the straight. At the braking point then into full lock understeer and followed IMMEDIATELY by snap oversteer while just rolling into the throttle in second gear. This was using 315 wide Race Slicks!!! Ohhhh yes this will be an interesting year to say the least On behalf of myself and the CCRT (Carolina Corvette Race Team) it was great seeing everyone again and looking forward to the next event! Rick - Great to see you and the CCRT group out there. We even named the worker position down on your corner of the parking lot "Corvette Corner" so they would know where to go. Ummm, the name has more to do with the tire smoke than the proximity to CCRT at this last event.
I guess you "heat cycle" those tires didn't you. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the next one. You should bring it down to the HPDE/track trials event so you can really get a chance to learn what you can do on a 2.5 mile road course. They will have instructors and I am sure many of them will have GT-1 experience, which is about the closest thing I can think of to your car. LOL

LOL Thanks Shane...All of us really enjoy going and being around ALL CAR ENTHUSIASTS not just Corvette Folk. I've done the High Speed events and I love them as my car is truely set-up for the 2.5 open tracks and Drag Racing....BUT I actaully have really learned to love the smaller tracks as it is not only really forcing me out of my comfort zone but more to the point as it is making me a much much better driver. My first race last year with the smaller tracks with CCRSCCA I was 42nd of 90 cars the last race of the year I came in 8th of 147 and this past weekend was 15th of 186 cars so I'm definatley improving. I'm sure there are side bets as to "which pole I'm going to hit first"....but to me just controlling the car is where all the fun is at.

That definitely appears to be a challenge worth the fun! Keep at it! We all enjoy the show. I'll be helping with registration at the HPDE/Track Trials - hope to see you there if you can make it.
