Let's build a catapult to throw that Z3 up there!! Don't come back with that secretary crap ....they can't afford BMWs - don't know where you lamed that one up. Isn't there a street-tired Miata in that girl-car club of yours that can come out and give me some competition? Yer rite Byrdman, they're not secretaries, just the boss' misstress... and T.O.P. ta boot...woohoo!

Does this guy drift like a girl? Yes. and.......... his hobby is probably photography. ....he's afraid to bring his Miata out and compete with real men.

That looks like a decent sized location. I can't wait. Size doesn't matter.

;D ;D ;D ;D Drifting is for those who cant figure out how to hook up the rear wheels. Or as Bob Bondurant put it "We were doin' that all over Europe in the sixties, it's how you drove a Cobra" Maybe we should have a "Drifting Autox" ...

Last year in Florence, SC - as part of the Palmetto Motorsports Festival - the Toyo Tire Drift team came out for an exhibition to be held after the first day of the autocross. They all entered the autocross. It wasn't pretty.

Well I for one am glad this event will be at Continental Tire (I used to work there), especially since the site is only 15 minutes from my house ;D
I've always wondered if we could run an event there, but since the tire plant in the past was a 24 hour operation, there were always cars there.
However, the plant has significantly reduced the number of employees, and since our 24 hour event is on Labor Day weekend, the lot should be completely empty.
Some other nice features: the site is really easy to get to since it's right off of the highway, and the Shell gas station at Westinghouse and I-77 is open 24 hours. The entire parking lot is also fenced in so crowd control will be effective.

It's also level, was repaved not too long ago, and is fenced in all around for excellent spectator control. Depending on how grid is done this may be one of the most ideal sites we've run on yet.

I didn't see how we'll do grid... maybe get CMPD to close the road??? That would be great! What you can't see from the road is the gravel path that was recently put down between the employee parking lot and the plant manager's lot. Take a look at this image I created: The red box is the course. The blue box is the employee lot which will be the paddock, plenty of room for everyone. The green box is the manager's lot, which will be the grid area. The yellow lines are roughly where the gravel path is that connects the lots. So you can see that we'll be able to create a nice long line of cars toward the course. Should be a great event, can't wait.

Thanks for the info Steve - now if we can just get the blueprints to the underground tunnels!
Looks like it will be fun, I should be there if all goes well.

If we can work it like Herr Shin has in that picture, seems like it'll be pretty fr-r-reakin' nice... I still need to get over there to see the "lay of the land"...
