Since Highlands was mathematically eliminated before any of us even left Asheville, I have an idea for next year. (please note: I'm not bitter at all. I knew this from the beginning. At this point I'm only looking towards next year.)
JUST TAKE AN AVERAGE!! Add up all the individual points for each club and then divide by the number of members competing. It's simple. We could use whatever points scale we want and it's still fair to all clubs regardless of the number of drivers. To discourage class swapping just for the sake of points, I think we should not include classes represented by only one club.
What do you guys think?

I think this is the best idea yet. It's simple and very fair. It would probably be a good idea like you mentioned to use a different points scale. Let's do it for '07.

I don't think it's a great idea, because clubs with more participation would be held back. Some guys know they won't have a chance at first place, but they come and there's good competition for a 6th place. This will eliminate those not competing for 1st place.
I think the best idea is to PAX EVERYONE, and then give the top 100 people points. 100 points for 1st palce PAX, and 1 point for 100th place pax. Simple and easy, and objective. The only people that get screwed are those in the Tire class. GS pax is the same for someone on R compounds and people on streets.

There are far too many people who hate PAX for that to work.

This will eliminate those not competing for 1st place. NOT COMPETING FOR FIRST PLACE? I have delusions of adequacy...

Are you suggesting that a club would actually discourage some of its members from attending because of club points?? That is the most disgusting thing I've heard yet. I guess I just don't see large numbers of participants as being a disadvantage.

I would like to see scantily clad young men, baring six pack abs, and arms of steal, presenting the trophies. Girls are nice ,, for the men ,, Give the women something too.

If you take an average, the club with the most participants is likely to take a hit becuase they would have 50+ people that just go to race, not to place. Re-read what I wrote, and ask yourself what happens when you divide 40 by the same number you divide 140 by.

I understand what you're saying; I just disagree.

No, but I can disagree with your interpretations of them!
