Rob, When are you doing the course? If it's going to be Saturday morning then I can be there to offer advice based on the changing course conditions over time vs. number of runs specific to the 24hr format that other autox's do not have to worry about. Overall I don't mind a technical section, however most folks equate technical with tight when it need not be. There are plenty of ways to have quick areas that botch folks up. This should work as both fun and a learning experience. Key elements should be: 1) Quick finish. Nobody likes to have an anti-climactic finish. 2) No massive decreases in speeds that require downshifts! (don't want folks breaking gearboxes going back to 1st for 24 hours straight) 3) Reasonably quick in time. Just because you have a big lot doesn't mean that using all of it is a wise idea (typically this makes for a slow and frustrating course.) Rob, Also need to get with you re: Evo school question that you've tried to help me with in the past. Beyond course design I should be there Saturday morning to help set up the event and get things like the lights/laptop/etc going. I will also make myself available as much as possible so that if some odd question arises you guys can not bother Steven for a change and get the problem taken care of while he practices for Nationals. He already has enough stress; please do him the favor of not making it worse. -Biggly

As registration and tech are split off, they are listed according to their hours. Event Chair: Steven Course Design: Rob F. SSS: Bill, John B., Joey SSS Deputies: Rich, Jeanie, Mike C., Shane, Sheryl, Jack Course Setup (3): Timing and Scoring: Ken Waivers 9:00 - 11:00: James, Jeannie Worker Steward: Shane, Colin Greeter: Registration 9:00 - 11:00 AM: Sue, Sheryl Registration 3:00 PM: Sue, Sheryl Registration 11:00 PM: Registration 7:00 AM: Tech Inspection 9:30 - 11:30 AM: Rich, Ken, Mike C. Tech Inspection 3:30 PM: Rich Tech Inspection 7:30 PM: Rich Tech Inspection 11:30 PM: Steve, Tony Tech Inspection 7:30 AM: Steve Oky-Dokey folks - we need some more volunteers as you can see. The registration ladies work hard at this all year and could use some assistance with the late night and early AM session. Looks like Ken is doing T&S all by himself - Some help here would be great as well. A greeter would be nice too!!! There's more to this than shagging cones!! So let's get on board to help out here.

Nobody as a clue as how the 24 event even works.
edit:
Of course I know some people do....before we get into semantics.
I don't. As far as I'm concerned....it's test n tune. I've never seen a need to attend this thing before, but I have no clue how it works. If I don't, I assume there are others.

Well, It has been discussed on other threads. Quite simple - you get to line up and run as much as you want to for 24 hours. You work for a 2 hour session for each 12 hour period. Other than that, classing of cars, etc is the same as any other autocross. The only other minor change is that we have multiple registration and tech sessions that occur through the event. Hope to see all of you out there.

so why need a volunteer thread for this one....unless it includes prescribed hours.

A list of hours and assignments would help, but looks like we are short quite a few folks for the assignments that go through the entire event. Also, we probably have only 25% of the participants reading these forums, so the worker list tends to pick up the same folks. But, it beats shagging cones!

I don't think we need a full volunteer list for this one like others. We do need folks for registration and tech assigned BEFORE the event as these are set times.

BTW - did we find out if the lot has lights. I hate to assign workers to shag cones in the dark. Might be a bit of a safety issue.
