Who is planning on running ES, CSP or STS2 in 2007. I am trying to decide where to play. I am leaning towards CSP so I can tinker...but seems ES is getting more entrants along with STS2.

STS2:
Look for me, and probably Little; Palombi; Mitchell; Nello; Doggett; Monfalcone.
Krolly Rankins and Stuart K will join in with Feinberg and Sawyer.
Possible entries from you and Keith V.
At least that's what I think, and I'm hoping for.

You can count on Ray and Mark Seiler representing S&M Racing in CSP in '07.

I hear Adam Breakey is building an STS2 miata, and Keith Vail is seriously considering it after codriving Monfalcone's car last weekend. Rankins is gonna join STS2? Sounds like a lot more talent is coming to STS2 next year... there are a lot of nationally competitive drivers in that list! Hey JB, Andy Hollis just mentioned on sccaforums that the Z3 has the best power to weight ratio in the class... I did not know that! I didn't realize you could fit those tires under there too... eek.... sccaforums.com/forums/3/221198/ShowThread.aspx#223567

It was actually him who put me "over the top" in the decision to go STS2 this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Andy switches to a Z3 next year. However, I disagree somewhat on his "gearing" views.
Most of what is believed about Z3s is negative internet fodder that is born out of "power-to-weight" issues.
1. This ain't a power-to-weight sport. 2. Z3s are just beginning to be old enough for people to want to tinker 3. Yuppies don't autocross
All this adds up to the fact that there really haven't been very many serious attempts to autcross Z3s in any class, but the few efforts that have been made have produced some pretty good results. I'm really looking forward to working with Stuart K next year to see what we really can do.
I really think that STS2 will be a huge class next year, and the Carolinas will be a "hot bed" of STS2 activity.

After our rookie year in 2006 we're (myself, my fiance and my roommate) are going to run ES next year and from all the excitement of sts2, we'll probably move up in 2008. Also it looks like Keith is going to run STS2 next year as well. www.auto-x.com/forum/showthread.php?t=605

Uhhhh, not that I count for much, but I'm solidly CSP. And don't count Clark Doggett in STS2 if he does end up moving.... *sad*

I still haven't totally decided what class I will run. On one hand, the car is totally stock, so I could just throw on some race tires and go. On the other hand, STS2 would be fun with all the competition, but the car will still be totally stock (Unless you guys can convince Jane otherwise. lol....).

I'd love to run STS2 next year, but we're having to save for our wedding in July so that's sucking up a large chunk of the racing budget. Also it would require a differential change since it has a torsen in it.

The big CSP challenge is the Cox car... years of development and they boys know that car like another brother! Sadly, Willie has his CSP car up for sale...

Well, there's a lot of excitement for STS2. I've recently purchased a 99 for csp competition, but after i swap a few parts off the BRG it's STS2 legal. hmmmm. I guess all i'd need is a set of good street tires JCox

I'm kinda hoping one of those Cox boys would lower himself to give me CSP pointers even though mine is EMERALD MICA and not BRG........I've got a suspension to sort out, and I'm sticking with my 15"ers, however uncompetitive that may keep me. Of course Willie or Seiler pointers are always welcome too......but well, theirs aren't green.

Not that we add much to the competition factor, but we'll be running in ES next year with you guys in our "new" 91 Miata. I hoped to have it ready by the Statesville event, but it just won't happen. Statesville will likely be the Si's final event.

OK, I need help finalizing my decision. I enjoyed ES, but I want to tinker. So CSP was my thought until I found out there are 50 of you in STS2. That looks like alot of fun, plus like someone said above, some national caliber guys. I guess my current idea is to prep for STS2 for CCR and put some 13" R's for CSP elsewhere(like SCR). How does that sound?

I'd like to have you in STS2 down in SCR. I think you'll find if you try to have a dual purpose car, there will be a number of things you'll want to do in CSP that you won't be able to do and remain STS2 legal.

Whatever floats your boat man... I'd go all out for CSP, but don't have the budget... R-compounds, IRTB, coil-overs, etc...

Yeah, the budget thing. That might be part of the reason sts2 in 2007 would be smart for me. It is a solid starting point for CSP. Kind of spreads the wallet out over more time. IRTB's would be great, other than the $4000. As far as CSP legal stuff-not STS2 legal stuff, for the most part there wouldnt be much I would do differently. Maybe use a RX7 AFM for CSP, 13"tires(which I change either way). The other thing about CSP in SCR(not that I run points or anything) but the have plenty of CSP cars, and the STS2 crowd doesnt seem to have the numbers CCR has.

Garrett Knox is probably going to run CSP Pro next year, but TeddyTed and Teddy Jr. will still be around along with Kurt B. Should be a pretty good class in SCR.
We should have at least 3 regs going for the championship in STS2 next year.

IRTB's would be great, other than the $4000. Yup... if I had 4 grand I'd be calling Jimmy at Fuji Racing... 4.7 sec 0-60 in a naturally aspirated stock internal 1.8L... He's shooting to break 13sec in the 1/4 mile after doing some more tuning. At the cars last trip to the drag strip it broke a rear half shaft! The car won CSP at the Ft. Myers National tour this year, although Jimmy wasn't driving. Wonder if I could talk him into coming to the 24hr...

Geez, how many hp does it put out? I've heard of CSP miatas making over 170hp at the wheels.

yeah, I'm planning of running the 99 at some of the TT's. I'd like to get my competition lic. so i can run some club enduros.
As far as a true csp car.... that's not the BRG. The suspension is pretty well sorted but the stock 1.6 wouldn't be very competitive at the national level. I hope to get the 99 there.
Jimmy at fuji racing is a great guy and his ITB's are the real deal. Plus they're more affordable than other ITB's out there. I think for the 1.6 there about 1700$. They don't really add much in the hp department... it's really about throttle response!

Yeah, $1700 plus another $1700 for a stand-alone ECU. I think his car is putting about 150hp to the wheels - for now.
