Hi, I'm new to the Carolina area and just thought I would try to get plugged in with an SCCA group up here. (This is my first year as a graduate student at USC--so, yes, I'm in Columbia.) What is the "solicalizer"? Is that a monthly membership meeting? Like socializer but mixed up...?
I'm actually a member of the TVR SCCA, although I worked mostly with the AL SCCA. I haven't been racing since July and it looks like I won't be able to make the November 12 race, so I guess I'll just have to wait until next season! Man, it's driving me crazy. I've missed it so much. Is there anything between now and then that I've overlooked? Time trial, Road Race, Rallycross, Solo2....anything really.
You won't see me actually racing (lack of car at the moment) but you might see me working...

You had me reading back thru the old social threads. then....... there it was........ on the front page. BTW welcome, Aimee. And to answer your question we normally call it the "soshul", but then, I went to klemsun. It is our monthly meeting for bench racing, bragging, and sampling the hospitality of each other's company. Consider ya self invited. Yes, we know it is a good hour and a half away, but hope ya can make it. Then you can see how mixed up we are. Can't even begin to try to pronounce solicalizer. Thanks for spotting that. James

Now...this is a shot in the dark here...but you wouldn't happen to know a guy named David Malphurs, would you? I went to school with him...and he told me once that his girlfriend back home autocrossed a non-turbo Volvo 740.

And they actually communitcate about Solo on their website. And they actually schedule get-togethers, and announce them to their members. And they have them in different parts of the state to accomodate everybody. And they are going to let everybody vote for the BoD online. And they know how to take a joke on their forums. Yeah....I'm spoiled. Too bad they can't be like CCR. Huh?

Wow...thanks for all the warm welcomes! Somehow my settings weren't correct so I didn't even realize anyone had replied to my post! (and to think I actually thought no one had replied to my post...) By the way...I like madhouses! ;D No...actually mine was a sedan. But it was dark grey... LOL I wish I had that many people riding with me! It would have been fun. Lol, Small world, yes, that was me. Were you by any chance on the solarjacket or motorsports team? Man, I wish I could come to this race!! Turns out one of my best friends is getting married so I'm going out of town... Kinda bad timing on her part, getting married on a race weekend, lol. Maybe I can make it to the socializer...but it's during the week, isn't it? Thanks bunches for the greetings, everyone! It was definitely a pleasant surprise...and here I was thinking that nobody cared when it was really my email, haha! I'll check back sooner next time. Is there another event after November 12?

Ummm...we referred to ourselves as "cargo" or "victims", not passengers. Of course, I had forgotten! HS Bricks need extra cargo to help keep all four wheels on the ground. I never saw it from the outside, but apparently when I raced ye olde brick it always looked like it was going to tip over from all the body roll... ;D Anyone ever seen the top gear episode where they tracked an HS Volvo 760? I haven't laughed that hard in awhile...knowing that I probably looked like that going around the track.....

I haven't seen that one... but I probably have it. I've managed to download about all of them from 2002 to present... You're welcome to go for a ride in my Miata... although it'll probably have to be after the official runs, unless I really tromp JB on an early run!
