THIS WILL BE A MEETING YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS!!!
The November 8th meeting of SCCA – SouthWest Chapter of Central Carolinas will be held at Ryan’s Steakhouse at 2426 Laurens Road (Motor Mile) in Greenville, SC. We’ll eat at 6:30 and meeting will begin at 7:30. We will cover recent southeastern racing events, discuss plans for the November 11th SWAGELOK autocross at the old Greenville Braves Stadium and make plans for a chapter year end event.
Our Guest Speakers and Vendor of the Month will be Chap Racing – Steve Hampton and Steve Cook. They will be presenting the services of their Piedmont, SC based race fabrication shop and speaking on Preparing to Win. Steve and Steve have extensive knowledge in many areas of racing and are well qualified to teach us about planning for autocross or road racing. They will cover managing inventory and tools, documentation and check lists, what to bring, getting it to the track and organization at trackside. They have many tricks they will share with us on successful race prep. This should be an interesting and enjoyable evening. Just one of their ideas could save you one or two places at your next event. THAT’S GOOD VALUE!!!!!
If you are serious about improving as a driver and/or building a career in racing or if racing is a hobby you hope to pursue for the rest of your life, you will find again and again that "to finish first, you must first finish." This meeting will be helpful in understanding the statistical planning that is a part of ALL types of racing and seeing how it is a major contribnutor to success. It has been said that most races are not won at the race track but back at the shop. It's true. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting. Thanks!

Absolutely...talk to Lance and see what he has to say / offer. I'll look forward to hearing what you found out..pricing, times and his recs. I would love to have something fun for Christmas Party down this way but if we have enough interest and can make it work... Victory Lanes is cool with me. Maybe we can even make teams... CCR versus SWCCCR... before you get too excited ...just remember, with the SWCCCR group we get guys like TJ, Jeremy Cox, George Bowland, some young guns AND a bunch of experienced road racers like Scott that would smile while they used your body for tire traction. Not that they are vicious or anything though.... ;D I want Jeannie on my team... you guys can have James. She will promise not to do anything to distract him while he is driving.... well, maybe just a little bit if it was necessary. This could be fun... it could be a very Merry Christmas!!! Let me know if you are interested by posting here... whether you are interested in running an event like this!

Just spoke with the folks at Victory Lane Karting. Seems that Lance has moved to Arizona, but he still owns the facility. He has an R/C track near Huntersville, NC where they are going to have the Nitro World Championships next summer. Anyhow, I've left a message for Lance to call me back. Will let you know when I know more.

We really want you there Aimee... what if you came late? we'll sign you up and you show up and run and do take down for work assignment? Lol aww. What are we talking about exactly... Nov 8 or Nov 11 autocross? Or the as-yet-scheduled Dec meeting? If I came late (nov 11) it'd be very late, cause I teach till....um.... yeah 2:30 pm. That would mean I'd get there by 4 ? If I could cancel teaching *evil laugh* then I could get there by like 2 ... but then there's the pesky problem of not having a car to drive. True... but..... what if I wanted to get a picture with the girls too? ;D* Wait... dream come true for whom? * *(I am KIDDING. If you can't tell. )

I'd be cool with that. ;D I think I'd be able to handle an M roadster...the most powerful car I've driven was an 03 Vette Z06 and that was fine. (So instead of a powerful engine in a large-ish car, it's a powerful engine in a tiny car?) Anyway...That is cool...I was going to say "if you can say that I'll have a car, I'll be there." So Yes. I will be there. Will leave as soon as I can but it might be as late as 1 pm... I'll pay when I get there, of course... but can I count on someone registering me?

Yeah! I going to make the drive and come down for the meeting. I was curious if there will be any one there who is knowledgeable on the rules for a convertible related to TT's that could take a few a little bit of time at the end and go over my car with me. I'm really interested in doing TT, but I really don't have the desire to totally rip my car apart to replace the stock 4 point roll bar. The stock one doesn't meet the requirement of a one piece main hoop. I have heard that there might be a way to get it approved anyway if I can demonstrate that it meets certain strength requirements. I also have questions regarding requirements for seats and harnesses.
Thanks!

Chris... Thanks for coming to the meeting. I know that's a long trip... but I'm betting in your car, you just look up excuses to drive it!!!! I would... ;D The website I mentioned is www.rivergate5speed.com/scca/timetrials/index.htmlinfo on rules is at the bottom. Also schedule is here ccrscca.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=tt&action=display&thread=1193323540Scott Franklin is the ideal person to ask about some of what we discussed... he is also a great source to show you how to meet requirements economically. Write him here...http://ccrscca.proboards51.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=nutdriverrighty Hope that helps and keep in touch. Awesome machine you have there... I wish I fit it but barring major surgery, not going to happen...<heavy sigh> Man, I would turn on the windshield wipers everytime I thought of my wife!

Man, I would turn on the windshield wipers everytime I thought of my wife! ;D ;D ;D I had a lot of fun. I really like the format with a vendor presenting at the meetings. It surprised me a bit hearing them talk about all the calculations and such when setting up the suspension of a car. I thought most of it was done by feel and lots of testing. I'm currently in that predicament with my car. The stock suspension is great with the stock tires, but I'm considering the jump to A6's for autocross next year and the stock suspension is just not stiff enough to keep the tires from ripping the wheel well liners out. There are numerous aftermarket options, some from Lotus others from outside companies. After getting to meet the development engineer for the Elise/Exige project and picking his brain, I'm looking at getting the shocks/springs/swaybar from the Lotus 255 Cup Car. I think this will be the best fit. I'll give Chap a call and see if they can help me get the ride height, alignment and corner balancing done once I get them installed. After that, I'll need to get in a bunch of seat time to try and get the settings dialed in. Look forward to seeing you Sunday.
