Any idea how the pavement is? Looks like an old strip mall...
300ft x 900ft
That would do... nicely!
Asked one of my dad's old friend (he's like my Uncle) to check it out if he's over that way.

Looks like an old shopping center or something. Maybe the SW director could check it out, or since I'm so close, I'll do it on my next Beacon run.

Some of our SWCCCR group, Tj and I and several Clemson students have spent many hours pouring over Google Earth and following up on sites. To judge by results, we have failed to find a solid autocross site... but we are not giving up. We just haven't found it yet. G Braves was deemed un-usable by many of our autocrossers and several claimed they "wore their tires out in one event." The closest we have so far is the old WACCAMAW Pottery lot in Spartanburg but the terracing of the lot has caused problems for corvette and mustang clubs that tried it. ("If you get off course much, you hit a terrace and that's not good. It's another site that looks great from Google Eart but not so good up close.) We would like to have at least one if not two events in SWCCCR area... to do that, we need a site and members willing to step up and help run it. We haven't cleared that first hurdle yet.
The I-26 site - I checked this one out last year.... drove by and then saw it on Google Earth. Looked GREAT! Stopped by...asphalt is VERY abrasive and lots of bad spots/pot holes to work around. For autocross, no way. I was looking for a TRSS site so I thought maybe... talked to the realtor trying to sell it. It was an old kmart kind of place and now he sectioned it off and rents it to a few small businesses that seem turn over regularly. He did not like the idea due to liability and there was one business in there that employed people that worked 24/7 at the time.
On another note, I am working on another possibility for a SWCCCR event site in Greenville Spartanburg area for next year. I'll post up when I know more. Thanks... and keep looking. Appreciate the help!
