While we all enjoyed the automotive atmosphere at Quaker Steak, the noise level was too high for a meeting. Please accept my apologies... some of the members on the back row heard very little. I was promised that the room would be quiet and we would be fine... we weren't. I contacted the managers and told them we would not be back and explained why. I also told them I had heard from other people who had tried to hold a meeting there and had the same problem. I beat up on them a bit in my letter. I told them there are very few restaurants in Greenville that offer a room where a club can have a meeting and I was really sorry that our needs did not fit their business model. Yeah... I pinched them a little bit.
I received a call from one of the manager/partners in the Quaker Steak chain. He apologized profusely, begged us to come back AND... he is having a contractor build a partition/door to close off that room from the restaurant as you read this post. WOW.
He said it is important to him and his restaurant that they build a long term relationship with SCCA and he will do whatever we wish to get us back and keep us happy. He also offered to buy a PA sound system with a lapel microphone. He further stated he will be in attendance for our meeting to be certain that all is to our standards. If it is not, he said he would comp all of our meals. I told him that would not be necessary and that all we want is a nice quiet place to meet. He said consider it done.
It's common to find people to make promises in order to get your business... it's not so common to see them work like this to get and keep your business. From all of your feedbacks I received, Quaker Steak was a winner except for the sound and I think we solved that. We will plan to have our next meeting at Quaker Steak on OCTOBER 15th! (THANKS Rich.. good catch! )
(Note that is the third thursday. We had several members with conflicts on our normal week.)
THANKS!
Scott & Ted
