Glad to hear you are looking to come out and join us.
1. M2005 is a very acceptable helmet. Also, we do have loaner helmets so it's not a big need, at least for your first event.
2. Yes, you can register on site. It will be an additional $5 though. I am not 100% sure, but you'll be paying the $35 registration, $5 on site, $5 weekend membership. That is all assuming you are not a member. There are more options and you'll be informed at registration. Show up as early as you can, 8am, so you can get any questions answered.
3. That isn't something that is looked at through tech, but you should really think about getting that fixed.
4. As far as any equipment or personal belongings, they will be fine left where you paddock. I usually suggest something to cover everything up with. We don't have issues with things disappearing at our events. The paddock is more or less patrol by our competitors and there and there should continue to be no problems.
5. CCR is definately the region to come to. As far as closer to home, I believe you'll be looking more into the Highlands region. I don't have any further contact information. Hopefully Daniel Wendel may tune in here or you can talk to him at the autocross for more information on that club. Surely David Stanford could help out also. He lives there and attends more events than most of us would in a few years.
6. Go to the Solo News/Results board and look at the CCR Rules/Regulations/Novice FAQ thread. A lot of good information for you in there. Also, look for Bill Cox when you get on site, he is our Novice Steward. Feel free to walk up to anyone in the paddock with questions. Just about everyone will be greatly willing to answer any questions and help you out.
Hope that covers everything for you. Looking forward to some new blood coming out. You should also look into our Novice School to be held on Saturday, March the 20th at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC. Lots of good information and plenty of seat time.

Howdy Man, Welcome to the madness...er ...autocross world. As Ted has mentioned check out the Highlands Sports Car Club as we are based in Asheville, NC. Our Nite series races will start up the first part of April, and will be held on a total of 7 Wed. nights through the summer. A very good opportunity for novices as we run the same course all events, good for guaging your progress throughout the year. We are having a little problem with our website right now. We are working on it to fix the problem so if you have any trouble, you can catch me on here. Again welcome to the sport and have fun in Sebring. LilGunny ;D

Well good luck in Sebring. We hold our annual Novice school in the spring. I have not heard word yet of a Test-N-Tune, but we usually have one begining of the summer I believe. Also put our 24 hour race on your calendar if it fits. Labor Day weekend.

I will be there walking around all day if you or anyone else has questions. dont be afraid to ask either, there is no such thing as a stupid question, if someone dont know something, the only way to find out is to ask. Hope to see you next weekend,

One more question. Is there a list that tech inspectors use? I want to make sure everything on my car is ready. Especially the brakes, whats the minimal on them?

Paul, there's a great article written by Rich Little that explains all you need to know about tech. (LINK BELOW). Don't get too concerned about tech... they would not let you run if there was something truly unsafe. It's a great cross check to make sure you didn't miss anything and make sure our event is run safely for entrants and courseworkers. You'll do fine! Glad you are coming and I'll look forward to meeting you. Ted www.ccrscca.com/solo-racing/solo-tech-inspection/

Biggest problem at tech is with batteries not being properly tied down. We did have one a few years back that had 4 lug nuts on each corner... on a 5 lug wheel. That didn't pass.

Paul, The Highlands Sports Car Club website got hacked and right now it is in the "fix it" stage. It should be up and running shortly. I will talk to the powers that be and see if I can get you installed on the forums. Have fun at the races. LilGunny ;D

Thanks everyone. Would anyone know the class my car would be in? Its a 2004 VW GTI VR6 with a aftermarket supercharger, wheels, and coilovers.

Street Modified. Solely due to after market forced induction. Street Modified not Super Street Modified because you have a functional back seat. I didn't know they had a VR6 in a Golf either.
