Just wanted to say hey to everybody! I'm most likely going to my first autocross ever June 18th and I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't decided to be a member of SCCA in the Central Carolina Region yet, but the main reason for that is I saw a lack of events on myautoevents.com for the CCR SCCA and so I don't know how valuable my yearly membership would be if there's only 1 or two events close to me (Harrisburg, NC, right by Concord). I have a few questions too if you guys don't mind: 1. If I become a member of the SCCA, does that mean only for the CC region or for any and all SCCA events in North America? Or would I have to pay separate membership sign up fees for every SCCA event I go to in their own respective areas/regions/states? and 2. Does anyone know where I can find any and all autox events that are in the CCR area? I saw the NCR had a bunch but they're all 4 hours away, all I saw for CCRSCCA is the Folger Subaru autox #5, which I'm planning on enjoying come June 18th Thanks guys, and glad to be on the site, hope to have a fun future on here.

Welcome and hope you enjoy yourself. ZMax is an amazing lot. Unlike a lot of regions, CCR doesn't post up all of their events for the year to register. Cuts down on confusion I believe. That way people won't register for the wrong one. The schedule can be found in the Solo section of the forum.
Your SCCA membership gets you discounts no matter what region you are in as long as they are SCCA as well. The only thing about claiming a region is really saying where home is so to say.

Welcome to the AX addicition! To build on what AJ said..
As an SCCA member, you can get the "member discount" at any SCCA regions Solo event. CCR has about 10 events on the schedule this year, if you run most of those events, full membership pays for itself.
There are several neighboring regions: -South Carolina Region -Triad Region -NC Region -Tarheel -and a couple others
Schedulers do their best to not overlap events with neighboring regions.. So, there's an event within a few hours drive of Charlotte almost every weekend.
As for me, I'm heading to New York in August to visit family and I'm going to run a couple events up there.

Haha call me Alex Alright awesome, I look forward to seeing you and everyone out there killing some cones What class are you in on the entry list? I'd check it out myself but currently myautoevents is down for some reason. Thanks z3ela for the schedule, though some of those are a bit too far I'm afraid, still, I looked and at least half of the remaining CCR autocross events are still pretty local, so I am happy about that!

Yeah the site is up now, looks like your Pontiac's got something under the hood from a tuner or something Lee? and LOL big silver boat, alright I'll look out for that. Hm, whining? I hope its the good kind of whining ;D Also @philip, quick classing question. If I plan on getting springs for my mazda, and maybe a K+N drop-in airbox, is it still going to be in "ST" 'stock' class? And what exactly is the difference between G Stock, and the other letter classes?

Yeah I read it, so springs will make me no longer Stock, but I can put the K+N airbox in.
At least thats what I got out of it, thanks for the article btw Z3elda ;D
@lee, haha nice. So you're running in Novice class?

A air box will also knock you out of stock. You can install a K&N air filter, but the intake air box must remain stock.

She likes to swing her hips too much sometimes lol. Even for a FWD shes feisty with snapping lift-off over-steer and heavy chested under-steer... lol I like the challenge though, BMW makes it too easy lol

Welcome Alex! Nice to hear that we will be adding another Mazda to the mix. I run a Mazda3 in ST. What Mazda are you driving? Unfortunately I won't be making it to ZMax, but I will be at the next event in July. Hope to see you there.

Unfortunately I won't be making it to ZMax, but I will be at the next event in July. Hope to see you there. I'll be sporting an '03 Mazda 6i. Not too much power but maybe the suspension's stiff enough to keep me from understeering into cones I was going to order some Tein springs for the '6 today, but... I'm having second thoughts, thinking maybe I could put that toward an old Miata or old M3 and just mod that. We'll see how the stock '6 handles on June 18th ;D And I'll make a decision from there. So, Lee and Lancer360, would a K+N stock replacement filter like this make me non-stock?: www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=33-2278

In all honesty when people tell you seat time is the best spent money believe them. Seat time is worth more then a new car. Learn your car and what It can, and sometimes cannot do then when the car become the limiting factor, not the driver, fix it. This is why I'm still driving a GTP. I'll default to people with "stock" class car for the K&N question lol Red's air box is not stock lol

Stock class currently allows:
Adjustable damping shocks must be a direct replacement for OE damper Front sway bar (2012 you might be allowed either front OR rear) may be changed or removed Air filter element may be changed to a high flow as long as it fits into the stock air box Exhaust after cat may be changed or removed Wheels may be changed to lighter ones as long as they are the same size as stock and the same offset +\- .25" Tires may be changed to R compound DOT race tires
That prety much covers what is allowed in stock class

Front sway bar (2012 you will be allowed either front OR rear) may be changed or removed The front or rear bar is a proposal that could be recommended to the SEB or not, if you have comments for or against you should write them on: www.sebscca.com
