Now I see why I got a text from Anthony earlier today appologizing for what he started. lol. I know Rich has spoiled us. Unfortunately, I haven't set up my phone for uber quick posting yet. I will have it for 2012 though. Don't expect results to be posted before we pack the trailer at every event. There are times that we have slackers that didn't work, therefore it will require me to audit those results. Because of the nice kind text messages I recieved today from a few members of our membership, I have results posted. Maybe I should have let ya'll sweat it out another day Believe me! I learned this weekend how difficult a job Rich had. Ridiculous!!! HUGE kudos to you Rich. Now that I am better prepared, things should go easier for me. I definately appreciate everyone that extended offers to help for next season. We all need to stay in touch and figure out who will do what and make it all smooth. Duck, we may want to meet up just in case. Be nice to have a back up me lol. So in closing. RESULTS ARE POSTED!!! See new thread.

Aren't you glad that you guys got thrown into the deep end at a non points event?

Lol. It's fine by me. At least it was non points. I'll definitely be sure to fill the gas can the morning of every event now as well.

I remember the first Race I chaired at CMP AJ, I thought the stewards were going to burn me at the stake. A lot of people filled in and helped me and saved my butt. After that I made a checklist and something gets added every time we have an event. Hang in there, you will do fine.

Yea yea lol. I'm going to try taking a stab at it tonight, time permitting. I have final exams this week. Should be up Thursday night the latest. AJ .. you've proved you can get the job done ... Rich spoiled us ... but you still beat the heck out of some other regions ( those that take weeks... ) + you'll get better and faster and delegate more as you go along ....it's all good

I love this region and all that compete in it. I have to finally let that out. So many kind words from everyone, on the forum, Facebook, phone calls, and in person. I greatly appreciate it along with everyone's backing. I'm young, I'll admit it, and have much I can learn. I look forward to it. I'm curious as to how this club's solo program will mold come 2012. Lots of exciting things already in motion.

First of all, please understand that this is not an attack. I feel I need to start off with that statement since people seem to be on-edge in here over some well-meaning suggestions ("lectures"), so I'm frightened what a little constructive criticism might bring... I heard through the grapevine (a mention-in-passing on another forum, probably) that CCR was going to be having a december autocross. I found the event on MyAutoEvents and signed up. There was no mention on the MyAutoEvents page that this was going to be a test & tune event. Since I don't regularly feel the need to research a known club's events I showed up on Saturday expecting a normal autocross. Other than a comment from someone on-site that this was a "non-points event" and therefore somewhat relaxed I had no idea this was a test & tune until the "work groups" were called out, the meeting disbanded, and I overheard a number of confused conversations from other people (who apparently don't follow the forums) about how the day would work out. I've done test & tunes with CCR before, so this wasn't confusing for me.. but it wasn't exactly what I thought I had signed up and paid for. Please, do not assume that everyone at the event site reads these threads. We need more consistency with the language ("test & tune") when publicizing the event and at the driver's meeting so that your fringe attendees (ie: people like me) aren't confused. I had a good time and would have come to the event regardless, I just would have come with different mindset.. one appropriate for a test & tune. Other than just now finding out that my only "official run" (timing was broken the other times I attempted to record runs) was apparently not recorded (and the time that I told everyone that I ran may not have been my own) in the results, it was a good day. I'm very happy to have participated in brightening some kid's Christmas.

The event was not supposed to be a test and tune, at least not at its inception. That's why there was no mention of that on MAE. If it became a test and tune then it was done that morning...
The thought was to run it like the 24 hr, work a specified time range, run the rest of the time if you want. Call a certain number of runs at the line, the rest are just for fun.
As for people being on edge... maybe the just need some spiked egg nog!!!

It was mentioned in the drivers meeting that it would be run in a test and tune or the 24 hour format , not that it was actually a test and tune . it was also stated that you still had class competition but could pick which runs you wanted to count toward your times . I was around the timing trailer most of the day and dont remember timing ever NOT working . I do recall the display freezing up but not timing itself . the idea was to give everyone as many runs as they felt like running . I had issues with my car during 1st heat , worked 2nd and left at the beginning of 3rd and still managed 6 runs . The only hiccup I saw was getting grid flowing at the beginning , other than that it was a great day

+1 on the Egg Nog, Rich - I agree with Tony - Grid was a mess, but we'll learn from it and if we do that again next year, it'll be better.
AJordan: I do agree with you to a certain extent - the format did morph a bit, and all those changes probably weren't pushed out to every single place where the event was posted... but since you aren't on the forum much, you missed complete regenesis of the event. After our November event, SCR decided not to co-host the December event with us there at Carowinds. Partly because of cost of the site, the decison was made to move to Knights stadium. So.. for a while, the event was in doubt.
Can we do better with informing folks? Yes- I think we can...
Rich - I know nothing about Myautoevents admin tools, but I know I get reminder emails from them in advance of an event... so, is it possible to send other messages to all registered parties? Maybe we can resolve to do that if this situation presents itself in the future.

Its easy enough to log in as the organizer and send a message to everyone that's registered.
Mike and AJ will have the power!

It looks like some kinks are being worked out now in preparation for a great 2012.
I can't speak for anyone else but, true learning comes from making mistakes, AJ & Mike seem to have the proper attitude to improve on their initial foray. This club is lucky to have the kind of members that will step up to keep the program progessing.
Just remember, we're a volunteer organization, everyone gets the same pay, no one who says, "I'm willing to help" will be turned away...just be patient that those "in charge" get to where your talents can be utilized.

I wouldn't even call 'em mistakes Mark - the event was alot of fun, and "The Twins" (Chuckling as I type...) did great with a format we've not really done before (24 hr format in 6 hrs). As my CEO says: There are no problems, only "opportunities". As it relates to communications, event promotion and recruiting; "I'm willing to help out" in the new year, and I've started a line of communication with AJ on that. Details as they unfold...

I agree for the most part. Mike and I went into this event with the mindset of non points, charity, lots of fun. I hope we managed it all. I know personally, I was greatly satisfied and had fun, even for all the running around I did instead of driving. I'll take in the note of emailing event changes to registrants. I was sure the forum thread and FB page got fixed, but never even thought of MAE.
Eric, yes sir! You do a good job at it, keep it up. Others seem to be following you with the FB event pages. Mark, can I get a copy of that paper? (I foresee a southern driver link)

Just mistakes as shorthand for the inevitable, "oops" "doh" "oh, yeah" "why didn't I think of that" moments that just happen to any first time outing...fact is there were very few of those and none rose to level of a real problem. They did a great job and it will only get better
