Now I know that got everyone's attention. Sorry to disappoint.
Mike is working very hard on it. There were a lot of communication issues with the holidays. Things have been moving forward though. We will have the date for the first event in a weeks time. The novice school and second event are just about set as well.
Also, we need feedback. Mike greatly enjoyed the old Thursday night series. I want to know how much interest is there for it? And opinions on bringing it back. It would be at Metrolina instead this year, if it happens. More than likely Thursday nights again.
I know everyone is anxious to make their plans. Please bear with us. At this point it is not really in our control. Efforts ARE being made to get the season rolling. I will provide any updates as I receive them.
Thank you
Confirmed Events
February - AX1 18 zMax (waiting on date confirmation) March - 17 Novice school @ Metrolina updated 2/1 - AX2 18 AX2 @ Metrolina
June - 16 Carolina Cup @ Blake Lake -tentative and I know it is fathers day weekend.
May - AX4 28 Memorial Monster @ CMP
Additional Questions
What does the membership think of a fathers day event? Will it hurt attendance? Either you or others. -added 1/17/2012
I am sure many people would like to hear about this. The thought is to have a two day joint event with Triad at Dixie in July. Comments? - added 2/1/2012

Thanks, AJ, for the update
Regarding the night series -
are there enough lights at Metrolina?
I really miss the Thursday night series - if it were true to the original concept - i.e. 3 or 4 runs, short, sweet, go home - I'd be all for it - when it started getting longer (6 runs without any notice before the drivers meeting) I couldn't risk being that late anymore
Thanks, Jack Mc

I'd like to see one or two weeknight events.. But I couldn't commit to a weeknight series.. I travel for work occasionally.

Attendance is what killed the Knight's Series. When you don't have enough income to pay for the site rental, much less throw on insurance, porta-johns and other expenses, it just didn't make sense to continue.
Hopefully Mike and AJ will have a budget to present at the meeting on Saturday and we'll decide based on it.

The numbers have already been compiled. Mike wants his baby series back. I'm trying to support his wish as I know everyone backs my wishes for a National event in Charlotte. Thank you for your insight Jack. I think we will have to limit it to five runs. Attendance will be the factor in the end as always. I'm hoping we get enough backing for it. The weeknight series was great for learning. Learning how to drive better on the same course and also make changes to the car and see how your times reflect the changes. Not a problem Eric. We understand that many have to put life before going fast.

I made most of the Knights events and would continue if they were offered. Probably wouldn't make it at Metrolina though - I live 5 mins from Knights and it's on the way home from work, which I usually took advantage of. Don G.

Thanks AJ for the updates and letting us know what you guys are thinking. I never got to run any of the Knights series events, and would love the opportunity to see the same course more than once to test changes and to have the opportunity to run at night. Maybe do a few events this season and see how it goes and try to do a full series next year.
O and if I havent said this I am completely behind having a National event in the area, if nothing else I would love to get to watch.

Rich, did you change the title? I can't remember what I put originally. That one is better though. I like the thought of doing a couple to test it. Maybe schedule two or three, see how it goes and maybe it'll turn back into a series mid year. Thank you! This is why I post stuff like this and ask for opinions. I know many want national events closer to this area, especially because so many people in this area do attend. I think it would be a good experience for our regional members to have one near by to at least be able to go and see how they are. Maybe it would then give them the bug to improve more and start traveling with the many that go already. March events are almost confirmed. Waiting on the February still though Should be early next week.

I was referring to this thread title.
Yes Hodges, we are not forgetting that date lol. Or Dixie and hopefully other normally attended National events.
March dates will be confirmed in the next day or two. Feb event will be confirmed mid to end next week. We need a contact to SCR to discuss their schedule and joint events. We have reached out and have not received replies.

Feedback on the autocross schedule in general (primarily the daytime series): - Great variety. The big sites are nice, but I also enjoy the small ones. When we go from Z-Max to Knights to Kershaw to BMW to Black Lake, it showcases the ability to adapt. And, when the sport is three-or-four runs with no practice, adapting is what autocross is all about. - I enjoyed events with other clubs. I enjoyed the events with SCR, because we met folks we wouldn't normally see at a CCR event (and quite a few we DO see at CCR). I know the NCAC was hosted by HSCC, but the same comment applies. - For the championship, once a month suits my schedule. Anything more often gets in the way of other interests. (Yes, yes, I know there are persons whose ONLY interest is autocross. I was there too thirty years ago.) -Long live the 24-hr du Mall (even if we hold it at Dixie and Knights and other non-mall sites these days.) The 12-hr and 24-hr events allow time for tuning that we just don't get at "normal" events.

Thank you Mr. Furr. I too enjoy the joint events. It has been nice to network with other regions. We all only get better from it. Once a month is the plan as always. Metrolina is making a comeback to our schedule this year.
Updated original post with confirmed events.

Additional QuestionsWhat does the membership think of a fathers day event? Will it hurt attendance? Either you or others. -added 1/17/2012 From my memory storage department: Historically, most of the events I can remember on holiday Sundays have not done very well. A lot of folks hold Father's Day and Mother's Day in reverence, and with good reason.

What does the membership think of a fathers day event? Will it hurt attendance? Either you or others. -added 1/17/2012 Not a fan of Sunday holiday events. Also, that's June, if it's the Black Lake event, it's likely going to be miserable hot, and Sunday events suck there because of the cleanup and remoteness...

You NEVER win... Some hate Saturday events because they have to work. Some hate Sunday events because of church and travel.
Can't keep everyone happy...

Alan, that would be a dream fathers day weekend for you wouldn't it. As a matter of fact, yes. My wife would tolerate and Adam would be thrilled. There's only been 1 or 2 Father's Day weekend in the past 15 years we haven't autocrossed at least one day (strictly due to no event).
