This is my effort to make all competitors tech inspection as quick and painless as possible
I'm just gonna hit the high points here based on common mistakes people tend to make
when bringing their car through tech.
_ Bring your car to tech in competition condition or as you plan on running it
Some things that that will get you sent back to paddock include
_ Drivers floor mat not removed
_ Personal items or debris in the car. Helmet is ok.
_ Not having visible class numbers or letters
_ Center caps and hubcaps that obscure the lug nuts not removed
The actual inspection will include many points which I won't fully get into here.
Here are some highlights based on past common tech failures.
_ Battery tie down. Must be tight and not stretchy(bungee cords will not cut it)
_ Battery positive terminal needs to be covered with an insulating material.
_ Fuel cap must be present and fuel cell vents must be arranged such that liquid fuel may not escape the tank during competition at any time.
_ Wheel bolts or nuts must all be present and and tight.
_ Obvious heavy fluid leaks of any kind are a tech failure.
_ Bring your helmet with you to tech. Needs to be snell m2000 minimum to pass. "DOTapproved" helmets will not pass.
_ Drivers seat needs to be sturdy such that there is no free play in its mounting.
_ Brakes need to hold pressure.
_ No cords visible or hanging out of the tires.
As I said these are the high points consult the rule book for complete description of what is required. See it here scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/2012_Solo_Rules_February_reduced.pdf
Thanks and Have Fun!
