Interested making $150.00 for yourself and $100 for your Region? All it takes is a one-days effort of riding around in Mercury. CCR/SCCA has been engaged to provide right-seat instructors for a consumer-based street drive of Mercury products; namely, Milan, Mountaineer, Montego, Mariner, Mariner Hybird. The program is scheduled for the new Northlake Mall on June 3, 2006.
Ride around all day in a new car and get a free lunch, while getting paid... Sweet.
Check out the links from the home page.

As for the hybrids, buy a civic or a toyota. Or wait til toyota finishes hybridizing its entire product line, as announced this spring, and buy a hybridized Scion...

Right Nut here.............anyone know what we're going to be doing aside from "riding shotgun" in Mercury vehicles? Also, have to echo the question that Lefty asked, do we need helmets and chatterboxes (and I'm not talking about my fiancee'!)

From what Dick said Mercury has contracted with a company that then contacted the SCCA about having members volunteer. It doesn't sound like the SCCA name will be mentioned, unless by those of us working the event.
I got nothin else goin on that day, I'll hang out for the day for the cash...

Super Instructor of High Talent (S.H.I.T.) How about "Super High Instructor Talent" ... put the comma wherever you want. ;D It goes after "High" if you're a child of the 60s or 70s.

Well this little project sure has generated some noise. So far, 10 brave soles have registered to ride around and provide insight into how someone might drive these pretty little Mercury cars, while attempting to get these new drivers to join our little merry band of tire squealing, rubber burning, and brake smoking cone chasers. We need two (2) more to jump on board and make a few extra dollars to help buy “one” of four new tires for the next autocross.

had a motorcycle vs. car head-on collision on the route we were supposed to drive. Bike rider was said to be one of the janitors for the mall. He'd come by at a high rate of speed a minute or two before the accident. Rumor has it that he was killed in the accident. WSOC's site didn't mention anything that I could find about the accident. Other than that, I think things went well........................with the exception of one person who talked CONSTANTLY throughout the day.

yeah...i heard he didn't make it - bummer - really put a damper on things. Lessee - i did get hijacked by one lady and her hubby who after he drove around quietly, she decided to lay rubber and try to test the handling of the merc in a parking lot. using cars for cones... not kewl considering I don't want my obit to show how my last moments were in a Mercury Milan.
But, it was interesting.
