What was the final number of registered drivers? Put us up enough to have night series 2? Also. Anyway we can get those pole lights turned on for next time? I had a great time. Nothin like driving 3 minutes from work to race

We had enough drivers to make it worth it. Therefore we will continue the night series.

Not sure who should get this message but....
I was working Section 2 and noticed that the fire extinguisher had a black zip tie holding in the pin, along with the breakaway yellow tie. The zip tie would make the removal of the pin impossible. After the night was over i noticed all fire extinguishers had the same black zip tie. Just a heads up to remove them prior to the next event.

These were added because each time the seal is broken it costs the club $50.00 to service the extinguisher not to mention the mess. The light weight ties were strenght tested by a sickly two year old and who had no problem breaking them at will, so I doubt that a healthy potential user will have a problem overcoming one. After the first three events we had to replace four bottles.

Thank you Brian for responding so quickly. That is what I was going to say.
Results will be up in minutes. We need to hear more feedback before we will consider a series. Mike and I will be talking next week to see what we can plan. Adjustments will be made if we do this again. So far, I like what I am hearing.

I really like it. I don't know how many I'll be able to make it out to through the summer, but if I can I definitely will.

I love the night series idea. Being newly married I actually still enjoy spending time with my wife so I try to limit my weekends racing to once a month or so. The extra event at night wouldn't cut into that weekend time. I run the night series with HSCC too and find both events a little more laid back than the points series. I vote for more night events.

Our old knight series was very laid back. We will see what we can do.

I Enjoyed the Night event, best fun i can have outside of thirsty thursday. I know that set up and time constraint were tough to achieve 7pm start. One thing i noticed is that there were quite a few very first time drivers. The one thing i would like to see happen is a novice walk through on course for these first timers like we do at weekend events. I know loucirsi jumped in the car with a couple to correct some dnfs that kept happening, but if we had a course walk i think that so many dnf could have been prevented. I know time is always the issue and only so much can be done with the time issue, but if that can be thrown in, might work out good...
The ones id nominate for this are usually the people who are setting the event up....loucirsi, Aj, kuhn...

I'd be happy to do a Novice walk next time after i'm through working Tech.

I know while we were working start for the second group we did try to help several novices since they weren't sure where they were going wrong. We saw several cars that forgot to turn on their lights making it harder on them after it got dark. Personally I like running the dark course.

I second your second. Night events are always fun. And this place is better than Knights by far. Only thing I could complain about was the lighting issue, however something are just out of our control. The night events would also be a great place to teach novices and other non-core group workers things like timing, registration, grid, and tech. Had fun learning some of the timing and registration basics. Looking forward to being able to do as much as possible.

Being newly married I actually still enjoy spending time with my wife That'll change! Uhh... wait... did I say that!?!? Uhhh ... I mean.... uhh.... bring her out too That was my wife running registration the other night and she's learning timing too so she can help out there if necessary. She's not even driving (yet) but she pitched in since we knew we were going to be a bit short handed at such a small event.

Many of autocrossers have heard the wife bitching scenario. Not to be mean with my word choice. A good thing to do is bring your other out with you. The plus that Duck just got is that now he and his wife have something that he does and loves that they can do together. She was so happy to be out there helping and riding along. I'm sure we will see more of her and she will now love this sport as much as him. It is a great thing to do with your significant other. I was thinking of a novice walk but time constraints were a problem. I did my best to get everything ready and started on time. I think we were close. Kuhn, that would be great if you could. I know there were a few first timers that didn't know about doing course walks. Night events are great for novices and veterans. We run the same course for the. This allows novices to learn how to drive the course better each time, and for people to try different things with driving and car setup. A lot of veterans have benefited from these events in the past.

Wait... you think I do this because I love it?! No... I do it so I have something to cover my walls with so I don't have to paint them.. and TSCC events so I have something to drink my beer out of!

Ha. She really isn't the outdoor type. Seriously she usually has to take care of the kiddies. I respect that she isn't really interested so I do just limit my time.

We will continue the series, I am waiting on possible dates in June from Metrolina Rick. But we will be doing a new course, that course was way too much of a power course. Also we will redirect the light towers to get more light in the far corner.

I really enjoyed last week's event and I am happy to hear that the night series will continue. One thing I liked about the previous (K)night series was the use of the same course every event - eliminating the need to do a course walk really removed some of the hustle/anxiety of getting the event off and running. And repeat after me, "Grid design is part of course design". We made it work last week, but when half the competitors paddock in a grid area that isn't all that large to begin with, things get *really* cramped.

As for the course, I didn't like the way it ran. It was totally void of any transitional elements. The next one should be good and balanced, so we can do it for the next 3 events.

Should've known my semi-decent showing last week was too good to be true. Even though it felt good to see my times in the upper half of the group for once (11th Raw! Yeah!), I also realize it had more to do with the power in my car than my driving skill. Maybe you could keep the same basic course but just tighten up the slaloms a bit? That big long straightaway in the middle was fun, but it seemed like you still had some available real-estate to the left of that straightaway. Maybe a tight left-right combo could be added before the sweeping right-hand finish?
