New to the forum, my name is Chris. I picked up a 97 Miata that has not been modified to my knowledge. I'm taking it apart in the garage to thoroughly clean it and get it to a stage zero level of performance. Looking forward to learning about autocross and I am very interested in hill climbs! I rode motorcycles for a few years and really love the twisties in WNC! I go to Victory Lane in Charlotte every other week and my personal best on the current course is 44.849 seconds; that means I understand I am not Ricky Racer and I'm not the best driver on the interwebs!

Welcome. I just got a Miata myself about a month ago. It's a '90 with a '95 1.8l and a few other mods. Miatas are super fun to autocross. Check the autocross section, we have a night series event in Charlotte next Wednesday.

I have been searching and think a 97 Miata is in the E Stock class. Is this the class information I need to know before registering?

E-stock would be right for a 97 Miata. If you don't pick novice then you should register in tire class(min 140 treadware) unless you are running r-comps. Both novice and tire are pax classes.

Based on quick web research, I think I should start in Novice then move to Tire when skills improve and I can justify purchasing a set of tires.
