James - may I suggest the Acropolis restaurant in Cornelius. It's a Greek/American place right off I-77 exit 28. There is a bar in the place, but it's sorta separate from the dining area, and not loud at all, plus the dining area has sliding partitions to make room for groups. Might be a nice compromise. This sound like a good place. Duck and myself were talking and we do need to find restaurants that serve alcohol and have a separate area for a large group. I know the place Sticky Fingers in Concord has the food, bar and separate room for us, but Concord. They also have a place on Johnston Rd, which may be an option. But I have never been to this location and do not know of the accommodations they may have.

I'm not a big fan of Mimi's menu, but it was quieter in there. Maybe throw it back in the rotation in coming months to give it another go?

I CALL THE SHOTS.
Please let me clarify this statement. That sounds a bit , well , bad. Simply stated, meetings stopped. Someone, anyone needs to step up. So here i am. Just call me someone. Two other people in the club have expressed an interest in starting meetings. Would be glad to help them with this. This has nothing to do with me, just SOMEONE needs to do it. Anyone who would like to take over (or help) is welcome to. In the meantime, rather than procrastinate, i am calling a meeting. Mostly to organise more meetings. Feel free to jump in .
There are almost 800 members in CCR. Care to pick a location that suits everyone? Night of week? Time to start?
I DO look at suggestions. There are some good ones floating around. I had NO intention of all meetings being beer-free. I suggested A MEETING IN A QUIET ENVIRONMENT for a little structure at the start of the year. Thus far our meetings have had little structure. If we are good with that ,then fine. So be it. But this once i figured we need to discuss and HEAR. As far as floating, we have done that. Maybe we need to add more venues. Suggest. Pineville North side, West side. We have done those points.suggest. At some point we may find the perfect place and have our meeting on a night when no one has class, work,or babysitting in the way. Until then WE can continue our search.

I would like to discuss: 1. shop tours
2. a karting outing.
3. a meeting place that allows civil conversation at less decibles than a Rod Stewart concert.
I will post in the next day or two a meeting. Has to be early in the month because AUTOCROSS.

Shoneys? Yeah I'm with duck. I'm out. I go to unwind. I'm not a big drinker but I like to have a beer. My pastor at church is the first one to say if you don't go to the bars to reach out, then those people will never be touched. But yeah maybe we should have a "younger monthly meeting" and "older monthly meeting". It's seems that around 40 yoa the opinions change sharply. In conclusion. I'm not eating any buffet Over 40? Over 40? He did not just say that! Wait till march, i will show you over 40.

Careful James. You're starting to sound like me. As one of the people who used to do whatever needed to be done whenever it needed to be done for many, many years until he got tired of hearing people always complain but never offer any (helpful) suggestions, I feel your pain. ;D Please note - This comment is not directed to anyone who has said "I like the monthly meetings but could we have it at XYZ next month? I checked the place out and they have what we need." Its directed at those who say "I don't like that place. Go find somewhere else and let me know so I can give my approval."

Funny how everything of a social nature within CCR has to revolve around the ability to get alcohol!! Been that way for over twenty years and still ain't changed. Sad REALLY!! A very wise man told us at a NCAC meeting years ago, " I want to hear all your complaints, but each one will have a solution, or don,t speak!" That was one quiet meeting. Thanks Mike Landreth, wherever you are! James you are right, everyone wants their own perfect place to meet. Ain't going to happen!!!!! You have jone a great job getting something going again, so do not let this stand in your way! I personally have no problem with the ability to obtain alcohol on site, but do not think it should be a requirement for a site. If you have to have a drink to come to the meeting, it must be to stressful anyway, so avoid the stress! If the only reason you come is to have a beer, save gas and go to your neiborhood bar and save the gas money. If you are interested in club buisness and socializing with some great SCCA members come to the meeting wherever they are. Spoon!
