Hello my name is Lawrence, and I am currently serving in the United States Navy. I am close to the end of my term, as a Hospital Corpsman and I am wanting to pursuit a career in Rally-cross racing. I have been reading and researching on how to get started for a few years now. I just need more advice, I'm actually looking for a mentor who is willing to help a twenty-three year old out. I would love to hear back from anyone willing to show me the ropes.
Thank you,
Lawrence

Hey Lawrence... we appreciate people of all disciplines of motorsports here so...WELCOME! We do not have an active Rallycross program in Central Carolinas Region but we do have a few members who run events in other regions. Where are you home based (or area you would like to be running?) NC Region and Tennessee Valley Region both put on Rallycross events and I'd be glad to put you in touch with them. There are actually a few cars very resonable already set up for RallyX. If you are interested in Rally... NASA RALLYSPORT has an event March 2nd in Cheraw, SC... the Sandblast Rally. I worked it last year... it's a mix of all levels of prep rally cars and motorcycles. IT's quite a show and has many spectator areas. I will probably be working this one. Shoot me an email if you are interested in going and helping out. More info here : sandblastrally.linaracing.com/2013/We do run hillclimbs in our region and while not a rally, we do have a rally class. More info on those at www.dragonhillclimb.com Thanks, Ted

How hard is it getting started?
Rally has always been a dream of mine, I'm just apprehensive about taking my first steps.
Thanks, Lawrence

It makes a big difference having some helping hands... and if you can partner with someone, you can split a lot of costs. Shoot me an email and I'll hook you up with some experienced guys as well as some wanting a partner... over at Clemson University. Email me at : editor@thesoutherndriver.com
