Completely lost now. I'll just show up and have some fun wherever you guys put me. What others were saying earlier about your car being in STU was correct. You have it registered online in STS, which is definitely not correct. Although I might not have any concern about your Swedish tank , as JByrd said in another thread, others in the class might. The size of your car's boosted engine makes it ineligible even for STX. So to STU with you! ;D If you want to borrow my shoe polish to write your class letters and number, I'm gonna write STU. ;D

I'm going to be in Novice from what everyone tells me. And it was impossible to change the class to Novice so I left it alone.

It's not impossible.
"novice" is on a drop-down menu below the class entry at myautoevents.com.
You chose a class, then go the the Drop Down and chose novice.
Example: if you enter in STU and choose "novice," then your class is STU Novice. You will be paxed on the STU pax within the Novice class.

Well I guess I just missed this topic. grok like everyone else is saying since it is your first event just come ask questions, try to soak up as much info as posiable and as always have fun. If you are looking for somone to talk to today and you see this post before you leave just look for the crazy guy in the black Impala t-shirt. I will be more than happy to answer any questions, seeing as how the Novice School last year was only my 2nd event ever, I know how it feels to be new.
P.S. Nice car

I was so tried last night I went to bed a 9:30 and slept till 10:00 today. While retriving the blown Saturn I got to marvel at group two. From the truck on race tires to the STX with a 39 to LM and Casino driving the Miata I could not believe what great drives you guys are! Yesterday Casino talked me into buying a race car instead of taking more chances on putting our everyday cars at risk. Watching him take 5 people out on the course in the Impala (Dallas twice) was remarkable. Thank you to everyone in welcoming us into your awesome world of Autocross !!!!!!!!!

Glad you got the car home. I hope its not terminal So what are you getting? My mechanic has not looked at it but Auto-Zone says $200 for casket and head-bolts and $600 for a re-manufactured head. I figure $400 plus for labor. If the head is not cracked then maybe just 200-300 for the machine shop instead of 600. Looks like $1200 or more with a new radiator (oil in the water). As for a race car, we want about $600 dollars worth. Our goal is to fix Dallas' car and get something to run at your event. When is next months event.

Nope, just back-to-back autocrosses! Did we say we like to autocross !!!! ;D ;D Yup - racey car is the way to go. But, if you are looking for something it that price range, you want to be able to do most of your own work - B/C it will need it. Have fun and be safe!

My mechanic has not looked at it but Auto-Zone says $200 for casketSounds serious! Honestly, I'm very sorry that you had a head gasket failure. There I was telling you that you didn't have anything to worry about when we met first thing saturday morning... You may be able to find a whole engine from a salvage yard for less than the cost of parts that you're looking at. I don't know what the market values are for Saturns, but my escort can get new ( used ~ 50k mi) engines for sub $300 easy. You may want to call around just to find out... try not to sound too desperate.

Yea, that could be a good idea. If your saturn has the dohc 1.9, I think they are kind of hard to find. Maybe not now, but I looked for one a while ago and had no luck.

ummm. I don't think we have a "walker" class.
Sorry, just a little humor. Naw, you are welcome to come by, sign the waiver and watch the show. We can put you to work and I am sure you can catch a ride with someone.

Don't forget 'Cart' Class. Oh.. wait, nevermind.. that's Kart Class. Speaking of which, what is CCR's stance on a Kart Class? Do you have one?

We do allow for karts at our events. I'd rather not get into that though.

When we do have Karts we run them in a separate group (usually first) and do not allow any cars to be moving anywhere to keep from squishing them.

who scoops up their exhaust? Ah, I believe you're bringing the "Cart" class back into discussion. ;D I don't know, but I claim permanent reprieve from that worker position! ;D

I haven't had to assign that one before!! LOL...but there is always a first time. AJordan - check out the SCCA Solo rulebook (www.scca.org) and it has the rules/requirements for the karts - I think they call them F125s and then there are shifter karts and other stuff I am not familiar with. Maybe one of the Kart guys reads this forum and can give some info to you.
