Does anyone have a link to a list of lap times for the cars entered in the Track Trial/Test sessions at Barber during August 31-September 1 ? I found the best time list but am rather disappointed that the run comparison information is so limited.

Are the times being condensed to only the best lap now?

Only the best of session lap time is shown. Is there a special log-in required for each laps time?

You can only see all your individual lap times if you create an account. After that every event you do will be in your archives. Sadly the new mylaps site really sucks so good luck.

If mylaps is this bad, then SEDiv TT should post the times on its site.

SEDIV TT website can only post up the official times as they are given by the hosting region. TVR/AL regions had over 75 people that ran that weekend at Barber ... the biggest Time Trial LEvel 3 event in many years. Only three people have complained about results and all three are from our region. Those regions use MyLaps and in CCR, we use our own system ... each tabulates differently. It has been explained that you CAN pull up your individual times on My Laps and it has been explained that the hosting region is responsible for giving final results but there is not a format requirement. ccrscca.proboards.com/thread/2137/tgpr-tt-results-april-08 <- results from 2008 from TVR TGPR done the same way. www.ccrscca.com/results/aprilttresults.pdf <- results from CCR CMP Time Trial in 2006 done the same way. If you would like a specific format for results, please request it in writing to your SEDIV TT Committee representative and it can be discussed and considered in the next TT Committee meeting. Thanks.

Tony = I have not seen individual lap times for each session posted for any TT since we went over to using AMB and Orbitz as the timing system. Usually, it is the best time for the weekend that is formally recorded in the final results. At TGPR, we usually post hard copy of the lap times for each session on the bulletin board but the final results only show the best time. At Barber, we were using the road race T&S people, who usually only provide the best time in each session. We had serious printer problems at Barber which caused us all kinds of trouble for TT and Road Race and we did not have each session's time sheets posted for most of the day on Saturday. We will fix that next year.
MYLAPS has become about useless since they tried to redo their system. Everyone I know is pissed off with them.
I will try to get the individual session times if they exist.

Just a idea, but since you have to have an account, could the Sediv site have an account from which to post these results? If we have drivers supporting each different region, there should not be such a problem getting their results from any of the regions. It appears that we, as well as they, say "This is our way" so be it. Admittedly our Region is MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY, but that is what we are used to. I think as Head of TTAC, you TED could look into it without doing the normal, "Put it in writing, and we will discuss it" format, which we all know seldom get results. I think you can, and will find a solution to this, so as not to lose any drivers at any venue!

All the times are recorded by the Orbits software we use for road race and are then uploaded to mylaps. Craig could you just have the orbits file sent to CCR and we can pull it out with our system for those that want it? Would be easier for you. You are talking about 30 pages of times for every lap on every car for the weekend. Not as easy as everyone might think.

"I think as Head of TTAC, you TED could look into it without doing the normal, "Put it in writing, and we will discuss it" format, which we all know seldom get results."Thanks for the support Blair. Please let me know... what did you put in writing this year to request to be discussed that got no results? I am not aware of anything... so how do you feel comfortable in saying "seldom gets results?" Every issue that has been brought up HAS been dealt with. Other people are using the system and it works. If you use the procedure and we discuss it through the TT Committee and it didn't come out the way you wanted, that is because the majority did not agree with your change or request. The Time Trial Program is THE Southeast Division Time Trial program... not the CCR Time Trial program. Other regions are a part and they all deserve consideration when changes in the way we operate are considered and before they are made. We have had a great season and all hosting regions did a fine job. I'm a little disappointed that after THE most attended track event we have had in years at a GREAT site we finally got back, when an explanation has already been given how to get all individual times from MY LAPS, a few people in CCR region are still complaining because another region does not "give results the way I want them." If people aren't willing to follow the procedures to get consideration for ideas (and have already decided that going through the TT Committee "seldom works") and would rather complain on forums, then I guess it is not that big a problem to start with. It would take a matter of minutes to write Shane so he has an official request from CCR to bring before the TT Committee... far less time than has been spent so far with no results. Thanks.

My sincere apologies Ted. I was talking about how things used to work, before you took over, and strictly naming you as a person who can get something handled. I also was suggesting that some compromise could be worked out to suit all parties. as it appears has happened in a matter of hours. It does seam however, that since you appear to be talking about Bryan Gause, one of your BOD members, that it took a lot of time and to come to this point of getting some serious answers!! After all it was "THE MOST ATTEND" and a "GREAT" site, so one would expect timely results! Sorry to put you on defense again, in the same thread. Thanks

Yes, mylaps sucks. At every TT I've attended the lap times(all laps) for each session have been posted. Most competitors who are seriously trying to improve their times run some kind of data acquisition system. Improving your times based solely on lap times is impossible. If knowing how you are doing every lap is that important then get an onboard tablet or smartphone. Install one of the many lap/track timer apps and pair it with an external GPS. Then take the time to dig into each lap, each turn, etc. These apps make it easy to see where you can improve your times. Most can be overlayed with video and you can graphically see what you are doing at any point on a track. The best part is you can look at the data between sessions and contiually improve during the course of an event. The returns far out weigh the cost and you aren't waiting for someone else to do it for you.

Love ya Blair, but really? Everyone else on this forum is a big boy and can get things done without you always leading the charge and stirring up things. It took me all of 5 minutes yesterday to create a new account with mylaps and copy and paste the results to this forum. We do our best to provide whatever members ask for but do not expect your every wish to be granted. Really Blair, "serious answers" were provided in the first few posts. You did immediately suggest that Ted and TTAC would basically do nothing and wring their hands. If you don't mean it, don't type and post it. Think a little before you go negative on a forum that represents this region. I have never had anything to do with Orbits, but it is the master record and was willing to try. When I go to a race I get my best time for each session, period. If I want more it is a bonus that we now have mylaps, not a right. I am sure everyone remembers things as they want, but I do not remember getting every lap time for solo 1. Might have when we ran pods and got 6 whole laps in a weekend. We are all spoiled now with instant results on our phone and tablets with racemonitor, etc. Lighten up and go work on your car or come to Zmax Saturday and try to outrun me in the new car.

Hand slap noted! But if you noted, I was not leading the charge, just trying to figure myself why it appeared to be so hard for someone to get results. Does look strange though, that after one post I make, that asks for consideration of an idea, you come up with results in no time. Was that not what had been asked all along? Sorry to stir up "progress"

Have you thought about giving that responsibility to Brian?

A couple of informational points.
Ted is not "head of TTAC". Ted is the SEDIV TT DDivisional Administrator. TTAC is the National TT Board of which there is a Chairman and SEDIV has a representative. TTAC does not get into exactly how each Region/Division runs their timing system.
For events where we use the AMB Transponders, times are recorded by lap and the fastest lap of each session is posted. At the end of the weekend, fastest time for everyone is pulled together. These times are posted to MYLAPS which has its own issues. If you have your own transponder it is easy to set up an account and get your times.
For the hill CLimbs, each Region has their own method for getting times as each hill presents its own unique cchallenges to overcome.
As the SEDIV TT Points Keeper, I depend on getting the final results from each Region after the event. I would like to have the person, SCCA #, Region, Class, and time. Sometimes I get the raw resutls without all the data I need. Sorting thru all the individual times to figure out which was the fastest and thus the place in class is a huge PITA. Thus I appreciate simple results.

That being said, I would suggest to the regions conducting a "Flat Track", level (three)(deleted four) Time Trial that they include in their supplemental regulations a notice as to what the attending customer can expect in the way of timing results. That would provide a "heads up" allowing the drivers to decide if they wanted to buy timing equipment along with a transponder to enable "self timing". Many Road racers already have this data acquisition equipment but since Time Trials are presented as a low cost, entry level competition, some may not.

Brian... In SCCA Time Trial, Level 3 is flat track and Level 4 is Hillclimb presently. ALL level 3 Time Trial events in SEDIV are requiring transponders presently and that is explained in the supps from each Level 3 conducted this year. Our Level 4 events in SEDIV do not require a transponder at this time because we use hardwire. If a region sets up a hillclimb and chooses to use transponders, they can and will require them in the supps. (This requires running 2 wire under the road to pick up signal at start and finish. That usually doesn't work on hillclimb site roads.)
If you have a transponder, you can go on line and set up an account (prior to the even) so you can later, download all of your individual lap times. You do not need expensive "Data Acquisition" systems in order to get your times and, if you do, they are not the official times. (We have seen variations on some D.A. systems versus actual but still, they are a great "fast feedback tool to improve performance", if you can afford it. Not necessary though).
You need a Transponder to be able to run so timing and scoring gets your signal as you cross the line each time. Without a transponder, you would not be able to run as we cannot get your times. If you have a transponder, you can run AND you can pull up all of your lap times at your leisure at no additional costs. I don't think there is any confusion on this and our drivers are using the systems in place with no issues. The only complaints we have heard are from a few in our region that did not run much this year and have not used MYLAPS.COM in the past. If I can help you set up an account on MYLAPS.COM, please call me. It is not complicated, there are no additional costs and your event information and times are stored there for long term future reference.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, complain. While I in general agree with this sentiment, I must interject an observation. The question of availability of lap times was brought up by Brian Gause, and some of his comments could be taken as complaints. He is making legitimate observations which deserve answers. Ted, and others, have provided some answers. However, I believe it is fair to say that Brian can, and does. Brian has been involved in hillclimbs and Time Trials since they were called Solo I. He has chaired more events than many on this forum have run. His efforts were instrumental in successful events at Sparta, Wolf Ridge, Eagles Nest, and yes, The Dragon, among others. Without his efforts at various time over the last couple of decades and more, we might not be having a discussion about Time Trials in CCR. Brian can, and he does. He's also earned the right to complain.

I does get a little difficult in todays electronic world to get too much information. We have evolved to the use of transponders in most all wheel to wheel competition, but most rent the transponder fot TT. This means every time you have a unique number and results are only found from the original event page. With your own transponder ($440) last I checked, you have all your results for every place you run on one page. The new mylaps site is a little less user friendly than the old site, but it is still better than a stack of paper. I see a time in the near future we will try to run the hillclimbs with a transponder based system. Means you never have to enter a name and car number in the computer after registration.
Another option I told Brian about is a Traqmate system that uses GPS and is very usefull for improving your driving and getting instant lap time feedback. I know some people use some of the smart phone based systems that even overlay the data on your in car video. Tons of ways to get the info you want. Homework for the off season.
