What all does the tech inspection entail? The 24 hr will be my first autox and I don't want to show up and find that I can't run because of something wrong with my car that I didn't know. I remember reading an article on the SCCA page a long time back about what to do and how to prepare for your first autox. I'm sure some of you can point me in the right direction...

Tech is fairly simple once you get to the site and register unload all of your stuff from the car and pull into the tech line. Once at tech we will check to make sure that your wheel bearings are tight by grabing onto the outside edge of the tires and shaking them. Also we will check to see that your battery is tied down check your break pedal to make sure it dosent go to the floor and check for throttle return.

Not much too it. But ya gotta make sure things are tied down, or taken out of the car. Don't want thing flying around and hitting you.
You also gotta make sure you have an approved helmet.

Hmm, helmet...are there loaner helmets available for those of us who can't drop $250 for one at the moment?

Yup, loaner helmets, free sweet & all. No really, they are newer & cleaner than other clubs I've used.

loaners are available, but EVERYBODY uses them. I just bought a new helmet from Zamp. Was only about $60. Nothing special.

So they don't check your seats or seatbelts? I have aftermarket for both. That's the only thing I'm worried about.

If you're worried about your seats & belts, FIX 'em NOW, before the race. You should not be thinging about anything other than the course, on race day.

I have a set of Tenzo R's for my seats and the universal 4 point harness' in my car. If the tech guys/gals on here say it will be fine then I won't worry. I just dont want to pay $60 then be told i can't pass.

So they don't check your seats or seatbelts? I have aftermarket for both. That's the only thing I'm worried about. Why are you worried? Do you feel either the belts or seats are unsafe in some way? There are definite rules concerning seats. Download the PDF Rulebook from scca.com, and read it. Also, check under "SCCA Garage" at the site for updates to the rules.

I'd hate to see you sliding into the passenger side.

I just dont want to pay $60 then be told i can't pass. If the belts and seats are securely mounted - no play, no movement - you'll be fine. If you're in Charlotte and want me to take a look at it sometime over the next few weeks shoot me a PM or e-mail.

Any seat change (other than a COMPLETE model change as in CRX HF to Si change) will take you out of stock.

OK no worries now. I've taken the car back to stock. Well close enough to stock. So I shall pass Tech just as long as Justin comes to the 24 with his stock rims to trade with me.
If your tires rub a little will that pass tech? I just trade my 17's for a set of stock msp wheels but they have 235-50-17's on them so they rub a little.

Stock has nothing to do with your passing tech or not.
Have you read the Solo rules yet?

What JB said is true. Check the rules. www.scca.com/Solo/Index.asp?IdS=05BA44-E36BB70&x=050|070&~=You'll need to copy and paste the link then click on 2006 Solo Rules.pdf With you'r tires rubbing you'll need to worry about things getting torn off and littering the track, like the fender liner and bumper cover trim. Mess on the track is no good and can set some people off. Especialy at the 24 hour autocross, where we don't want any down time. Just keep it safe.
