Nice note from Valerie Fiel at Robbinsville Chamber of Commerce.
"Hi! This is the first chance I've had to get back onto the computer again, since Friday. We are sooooo glad that ya'll made it home safe and sound. The fog must have been bad, but that's all part of the Smoky Mtn. way after a long rain.
Thank you all very much for coming and doing our parade. Everyone was BLOWN AWAY (except Dragon...lol!) by your presence and your float was a huge highlight of the parade. The G. C. Fire Department was extremely grateful for your winnings too! I'm sure they will be putting it to good use. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The CCR SCCA are AWESOME! Looking forward to seeing you again in the Spring too for the next race!
In the meantime, please tell Steve and the girls that we are very appreciative for the time they give up for Graham County to put a big smile on our faces for Christmas.
We wish all of you and your's the very best of the season and hope that all of you have the Merriest Christmas and the Happiest of New Year's."
The local paper carried an article "The big event of the weekend was the Graham County Christmas Parade, with Rick Davis of the G.R.E.A.T. organization being our Grand Marshall this year. Two Special Guest's of Honor were also present in this year's parade, being "Beloved Woman," Ella Bird and "2013 Miss Cherokee," Madison Crowe. The CCR SCCA Hillclimb folks made a special trip all the way from South Carolina to bring us their "Dragon" float, one of their winning Hillclimb cars and some of their winning drivers and event planners. While the SCCA float won 2nd Place for their float, they generously chose to donate their $200 in winnings to the Graham County Fire Department, which was presented to Billy Joe Grindstaff. Thank you very much and Merry Christmas to you too, SCCA!"
Let's do this again next year... and REALLY blow them away.
