When you say the word "motorsports", it covers a wide range from solo to karting, LeMons to rally, road racing to drag racing. Consider this... the evolution of motorsports is the combining of a vehicle with "something else". It might be a road course, a parking lot, a straight 1/4 mile strip, a gravel road. From 1956 through 1995, SCR, CCR and other Southern regions of SCCA worked together to make the Chimney Rock Hillclimb. It combined race cars, street prepared cars, a windy mountain road and the beauty of the nature in the mountains. This weekend we will run the 7th Dragon Hillclimb in Robbinsville, NC. This series is a reincarnation of the Chimney Rock Hillclimb and it is becoming very popular... a field of 82 drivers will be competing and a crowd of 3000+ is expected. The drivers come from New England, PA, Florida, New Jersey, Illinois, Wisconsin... and their ethnic origins are from Poland, Romania, Hungary, India, Australia, Sweden, Finland. The cars range from street legal cars to full roll caged race cars, rally cars, hillclimb specials, and formula cars. The atmosphere is wonderful... beautiful cars, barbecue on the mountain, kids ringing cow bells ad tracking down drivers for autographs and pictures, great competition in many classes and a fellowship between drivers, crew, event staff, and spectators as they share a unique motorsports event. If you have never been to a hillclimb, we invite you to come on up and see what it is all about. There is nothing like a hillclimb. www.dragonhillclimb.com
