I'm new to the area (and not sure if I can make it yet), but does this use SCCA classes? If not where can I find the classing so I know what car preparation to do?

Yes, standard SCCA classes are used. Also, being new to the area, if you can make it you owe it to yourself to come see what Zmax has to offer. It is the premier site in the Carolinas and we also have some fantastic course designers.

In the KYSCCA region I ran in STX, but I am technically not STX legal. I have fenders pulled (beyond just the lip), but the clearance is for my blingy wheels and not necessary for my autocross wheels/tires. KYSCCA allowed me to run since I was within the spirit of the rules even though it was technically illegal for the class. Who can I talk to inm order to find out if I can do the same thing with you guys?

With Triad , we ask that you tell the other STX competitors what the deal is and if they are fine with it then we are fine with it . I personally dont like cars with mods outside a class rules but the final word actually is supposed to fall on the other competitors .

I can't speak for the other STX folks, but I don't mind a minor mod that is not used for competitive advantage.

I personally dont like cars with mods outside a class rules but the final word actually is supposed to fall on the other competitors . SCCA rules are the same: Tech can provide guidance, but any competitor can protest classing. Most folks won't care, but it only takes one. It's a pain sometimes to ask each competitor, but most drivers are more receptive to minor "out-of-class" mods if we are informed. Otherwise, we tend to wonder what ELSE has been done.

I accidentally missed the motorsports reg deadline. Can I register at the event?
If so, what payment types are accepted?

Yes, you can register on site. I believe cash and checks are accepted, though PayPal may also be an option (I know it is for CCR, not sure about Triad).

Stephen - there was some confusion at the event where my class and number was recorded for an unidentified car and driver, so that when I took my first run it was recorded as run #4. I gave my timeslips to the T/S chair at the event, and was told that all would be corrected. Unfortunately, my times do not appear in these posted results ... my first run is listed as run #4, and my remaining three runs were dropped. My last and best time was 59.7xx.
Please check with the T/S folks from Saturday to find and update these times and overall results. ~ Eldon Zacek SSP 53 (red Lotus)

That was my fault, Eldon. I was working timing 2nd group.... saw a red Lotus with numbers neither of us could read from the trailer, and I thought it was your car. Turned out there were TWO red Lotus Exiges there that day. OOPS! We were having a godawful time reading car numbers from the trailer on Saturday. Just a bit too far from the start line to make out some of them

I really enjoyed the course, and I keep replaying it in my mind. I'd like to know how other people drove it. I tapped the brakes everytime I got to the first, fast left sweeper going into the Grandma's stuffing complex. I'm wondering if I should have put more faith in the grip and stayed in it through there. Did anybody else make it through without slowing the car down?

Stephen,
No problem. The other Lotus was registered in ASP as a novice. He is suppose to be SSP but was told sometime ago by somebody that he belonged in ASP. Xeric13x, the other lotus was a 2007 and mine is a 2011 Final Edition for US delivery.

wish I could have been there … both for CCR/Z-Max and for Triad … but this yr it seems that every time there was an event at Z-Max (or for that matter with Triad) there was conflict with other events that were more "important" to me this yr … track events, a-x's with other regions where I had big time pts fights … etc …
really hope the schedules work out for me this coming season (this isn't a rant about CCR/Triad not caring about MY conflicts) … just hoping that things work out this yr
see y'all next spring
