We were talking in the grid this last weekend about how useless the time announcements are unless you have been around for years and know everyones names. Me and most of the rookie group only know a handful of peoples names and when all the times are referenced by the person and not the car, we are totally lost. I'm sure the same goes for the experienced people when there is someone new that they don't know. When that persons time is called they have no idea who they are referencing. This issue is amplified when the announcer gets behind due to technical difficulty. Because then there is no way to tie the time to the person that just crossed the line (which seems to happen a lot).
I don't want this to sound like I am complaining. The CCR organizers do a great job and I enjoy every event. I just wanted to let you know of a possible improvement that could be made.

Greg, though you have some valid points, the system is about as good as it gets from a practical standpoint. The reason is that cars will finish, on average, about 20 seconds apart. When you add the delay in times hitting the computer, people asking for times, etc. it's almost impossible to stay current with who just crossed the line. The announcers generally do a pretty good job of saying what cars people are driving periodically to help narrow it down, but there's only so much they can fit in.
It does take some time to get to know who to associate with what car (unless it's Casino), but you'll figure out who the quick people are pretty easily.

There is a Registration list posted with everyones name , car , number and class . If you have questions about a particular time you can always reference that . We are actually pretty spoiled ,,many clubs have no announcers at all .

While probably not as entertaining as some of our other announcers and certainly not as well done as some of our announcers. I always give name, car make, time and class standing. I'll add car number to the list so they're easier to spot in grid.
I had a pretty poor showing at the Boat knight event as I was getting over strep throat and the ole noise maker gave out about mid run group.
