Just curious as to when registration will open for the June race at Lowe's. Also, is there a CCPS race scheduled for this event? I need to get moving if I'm going to get stuff done in time. Thanks for the help. Scott "Righty" Franklin www.NutDriver.org

Could you post the (proposed) schedule here? Seems like a couple of years ago all the SARRC stuff happened on Saturday, then the CCPS/ECR was run Sunday afternoon, but I understand that has changed for this year.
Thanks...

Yes, please, need some help here! Looking to bringing 2 ITS cars from Memphis but we need some info to make decision, travel plans, etc. I do the sanctions over here so I understand but you can at least post basic info here.
Fri. Test Day? How much? What events? Are there 1 or 2 sprint races + enduro? How long is the enduro? Entry fees?

Hello,
Agreeing with previous requests, the event schedule by class in advance of the entry form availability would be very much be appreciated to facilitate making travel plans to and from the event.
Thanks for any assistance that can be provided,

How about activating the link on the home page so that others don't have to dig through the forums to find that registration is open. Considering that we're just getting word that registration is open on the 5th, I hope that they aren't planning on any late fees for not getting the $ in more than 10 days in advance!! I constantly hear how the region has no money or the events are not successful yet there isn't even a link to the next SAARC on the home page. If I would not have dug around some, I would not have known where to register.
MAYBE, if we properly advertised, etc., we could attract enough interest to continue to come to Lowe's next year.

For an electronic copy of the registration form for the Loew's Test Day, call Matt Greci at Loe's, 704 455-3275. Sorry, but without your E-Mail, I can't forward a copy.

To answer some of these posts. Our web-site guy had a death in his family, so some of the links didn't get put up when we'd like. Note that he's the only current volunteer for supporting the web-site.
The GCR doesn't allow posting of information before the Sanction numbers are issued (yes, I know some details could be). That happened late because no one volunteered to Chair this event. We called and asked 25 people in the club but they all said they were committed elsewhere. So I got stuck with it again and frankly, I have too much going on with my new business. Once again, the other CCR BoD members stepped in to help too.
I'm hoping that Marlboromafia will offer to help with advertising and promotion of CCR's events.
Not all our events lose money. Not all are expected to make money. I believe that all our events have been successful because we base that on whether workers and entrants enjoyed the event not on whether it made money.
The decision about continuing to run at Lowe's has relatively little to do with the financial aspect of the event and much more to do with whether drivers (enough drivers, if you like) really want to race there and the problems of having enough workers (and I know the long story of that issue).
Obviously if only 50 people enter for the event then the financial aspect suddenly looms large.
We're having an autocross in the infield (kart track) at the same time. So that will help the event finances. It is also a great way for you club racers to inter-act with SOLO drivers and perhaps encourage them to participate more in club racing activities.
Hope this helps. Martin B. CCR Regional Exec.

I feel your pain, Martin. For the last few years I have been one of the handful of people who do 90% of everything in the Mid-South Region and I know from experience that people get burned out when they are called on for everything. The R.E. should not have to run events.
Are you serious about 50 cars? The last time I did this event in 1997 40 cars (22 ITS) were in the IT group.

Hi Bill,
No, I wasn't that serious about 50 cars. What we have experienced at Lowe's is a multitude of small factors that have discouraged some entrants. There used to be problems with Timing, due to the track continually cutting our AMB loop wire and that was an issue 3 years ago.
There have been problems with the track and its security staff - making people wait somewhere outside the track until 10pm of a Friday. We've resolved that too. Sometimes the security are a bit "strong" telling people where to park inside the infield too. Then some people don't like the way the walls jump out and grab car fenders. Or the placement of jersey barriers, or stones thrown up in infield, etc.
We (region) now do a lot more in regard to meeting with the track and getting every one on the same page to achieve a successful event, and it has been working..
Not being able to run until 12 noon on a Sunday is also a factor, as it limits the schedule planning a lot too.
The event has not grown over the years. It has shrunk a little and we (region) don't want to wait too long before making a decision. The fact that the 2007 race schedule must be decided by July this year is always a pain.
Actually, finding out (recently) that we can - And ARE -run an autocross at the same time in the infield on the Kart track may completely change our decision about Lowe's!

Anyone laying odds on what time the gates will open tonight? I'm betting that the LMS Security is going to hold us at the gate until 2200 and we'll just have to deal with it. Anyone heard anything otherwise? "Righty" www.NutDriver.org

Gates are meant to be open to Driver's at 6pm. (That's the time we agreed with LMS).
They should open after the Track day session has completed and track is cleared.
Dave Brown for CCR will be onsite. Dave is handling the garages. If you need one, see him. They are $100 for enclosed garage. $50 for ARCA covered space. The covered garages are Well Worth The Money when you consider the heat this weekend.
Please do NOT park in the fire lanes - even temporarily. That is a big issue for LMS Security. They get into trouble from their Supervisors when people do that.
Please do NOT spread out and take up lots of paddock space. Just because you drive a big rig doesn't mean you own 15 cars worth of parking area! You may be asked to move to outfield if you need athat much space!
CCR has worked hard to improve relations with LMS and Security. Please do your part to 'be nice'. THANKS. Martin

Despite a first lap incident that took me out of the SARRC, I for one had a great time at Lowe's and will be back next year if the event is run (and I hope it is). New paving on the oval was great.

In '98 & '99 I had bad luck at Lowe's - tore up the rear end after two laps the first year and blew the engine (again after two laps) the next. Since this was the "last ever" and I now have a car built for rovals, I decided to make the trip this year.
Overall an excellent event. We enjoyed ourselves immensely despite going backwards (literally and figuratively) in the race and not being able to use the 4-wheeler in the paddock area (I suspect that rule is to keep the NASCAR fans from holding impromtu motox's during their events). A well-run event, good competition and going into NASCAR Three at 160+ is a REAL challenge of one's mental toughness!
I know a couple of years ago all the SARRC classes practiced, qualified and raced on Saturday. I understand that may not work anymore, but to me (with a 290-mile tow each way) going back to such a format would be appealing.
Should you see your way to run there again in 2007 (and beyond), I'll be back.
See ya...

I agree. It was a well run event. I will be back in 2007. What a blast to be able to run that much of the oval and a pretty decent infield too.

While I qualified the car DFL in the CCPS race with my brother co-driving, we both had a good time. Although I'm getting to NASCAR 3 alot slower than Butch, have to agree that it takes some "testicular fortitude" to go in without lifting. Continue to be disappointed with getting both drivers names on the results. Talked to Sara Snider, Clyde Bayles, Wanda Cecil, and even to Estus' wife about the continued problems (this is the THIRD time we've had problems with having both listed in the CCPS results). I haven't seen the "official" results yet, and I hope that my issue is resolved when they are posted. BTW, I'm not the only person with a similar issue. Thanks for letting me vent. Well, it's now Thursday and despite speaking to all of the folks that I listed in my previous post regarding getting my name on the results for co-driving the CCPS, I still haven't heard anything. I'm hoping that someone here can direct me to Sara Snider's e-mail address or Clyde Bayles. I'd really like to get this resolved. Scott Franklin www.NutDriver.org

Excellent event...road course infield was as much fun as the track. Next year is a long time away...hope CCR can do it again.
Well run...only small issue was no PA so getting to the grid was, at times, problematic. FM was available...but it seemed to be for the Solo event. Nice touch to have Solo and Club Racing on the same weekend in the same place.
