Well....I had offered the BOD a real deal..I was going to give each winning driver an 8x10 photo with event logo, drivers name and winning time..as I had done in earlier hillclimbs and on top of that, I was going to give each entered driver a 25% discount on all photos ordered from the event...I was turned down....This was at no cost to the CCR...totally out of my pocket...
The club is looking for ways to improve the events, make them more attactive, better awards and such..dosn't make any sense to me at all.

Lets Be very clear Richard. Nothing is stopping you from doing those things for the drivers. I am sure they will all appreciate it and are free to spend money with you as they wish. There will however be other photographers and video being shot. This is not our site and we are working with the tourism board to promote local involvement. No exclusive for anyone so come enjoy a hillclimb and shoot away. Pictures that is! Please don't make it sound like you were told not to and then post false information on our forum. You are always welcome at CCR events.

Richard, if I should win my class, you're more than welcome to give me the aforementioned photo and discount. Unless you were offering this package in exchange for some concession from the club, such as a free room in exchange for being the event photographer (or something similar), I don't see how they could stop you. Looks like Steve was posting while I was typing.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't we have this same kind of confusion with Richard last year at Wolf's Ridge? Maybe there needs to be some policy about not having an event photographer. Richard does do GREAT work, but maybe he has been led to believe that we had given him the exclusive rights. He should be allowed to take any pictures he wants at his own expense and maybe donate some worker perks through his website, as to sell a nice photograph as he has proposed. The pictures with event logo, times etc are very nice, and frankly could be used as trophies.

Steve,
I felt that I made a very generous offer to the CCR BOD to add to the trophies that will be given out. To be told that you are not interested in my offer, well sort of like a slap in the face. I donated all the photos for the Autocross Awards for last year... I'm am giving a free 8x10 photo to a driver at every Autocross this year....I don't know what else I can do to help this club....The feeling is that the BOD does not want any help or support from its members when it is given freely....

Blair,
Wolf Ridge was not about Photos...it was about not having room for all workers and a comment made by Wes that was misunderstood.
I was not asking for exclusive rights, I never have, I just wanted to do something for the club that I thought the drivers might appreciate. I have a skill and a talent that I like to share, and believe me I usually end up giving away more photos than I sell....
Larry,
I have asked for nothing in exchange from the club...except to listed as an event sponsor....I was planning of bringing 3 additional worker, Jessica, My son and his girlfriend...

I had to go find my old board member / treasurer hat and dust it off.
Richard, with all due respect, requesting that you be listed as an event sponsor in exchange for providing the winners with photos is not "...asking nothing in exchange..." I'm not sure I would have supported your offer if it had been presented when I was on the board, especially as the club will want to encourage lots of people and organizations in the local area to take and post photos. Having a photographer as an official event sponsor might make some think they couldn't do that.
Having said that, I think you do wonderful work and I have photos from you for winning my class at previous events. You're welcome to put your logo on my car....just have the decals made.

Thanks again to all those who have contacted us to volunteer... we really appreciate your help. We have several in the Robbinsville area who are reading our forum and looking forward to registration opening so they can sign up. The TOURISM AUTHORITY is still reading our site regularly and is really impressed with the positive support we are getting from volunteers and interest from drivers. We were originally contacted by the Graham County Tourism Authority because one of their people read on our forums that the Wolf Ridge Hillclimb was cancelled. They have a sharp staff and we have really enjoyed working with them. They get stuff done! They already have T-shirt designs ready for our approval from our meeting last FRIDAY! Be sure and let them know how much we appreciate them when we are up there at the event! Thanks... Registration should open tomorrow I am told! ;D

Registration should open tomorrow I am told! ;D OK, it's tomorrow, ;D Graham County has certainly done an admirable job in all this and is to be commended. That Cherie Brantley has really pulled a bunch of diverse folks together in such a short time is nothing short of amazing. BTW, the chicken taco salad at Pacifico is wonderful...

Richard. Obviously you need to be paid when you do spend your time doing the photos, and advertisement helps you do that. I also would be glad to run your logos on my car, all I would ask for is 1 picture from the events you cover. You do great work, and I still have the first photo I ever got from an event, done by you at Chimney Rock in about 1987. But if you are going up to "work" for the event I would think you would not have time to do many pictures. Hope to see you there in whatever capacity, and let us know about running your logos.

Like Mark said, its tomorrow.
I want to register first.
BTW, has anyone told them we may have a problem with the Eagle's Nest event? Maybe can we put Cherie Brantly to work on a site for that weekend? ;D
Or even if we don't have a problem at Eagle's Nest. July and October are open....

I visited the Hillclimb site on Saturday, along with Blair Underwood, Willie Stock and the Seilers. At the site we ran into (not literally) the Hallmans. We all agreed that the site is going to make a great hillclimb.
We also discussed the problems we have encountered over the years keeping good hilclimb sites. Losing Wolf Ridge (hopefully for just this year) because of road condition issues, and Eagle's Nest probably going away as well, we are fortunate to have been able to form a relationship with a group who are embracing us as well as the Graham County Tourism Authority and the various businesses in the area. Everyone we encountered seemed excited that we were coming. I get the impression that the reception in the organizational meetings has been very positive as well. Having been involved in the initial discussions with Beech Mountain years ago, I know that's not always the case!
I encourage anyone going up to check out the site to let people you meet know you are going to be coming for the hillclimb, and how much you appreciate their support.
To any of the local governmental or business people who may be reading this post, THANK YOU!, THANK YOU!, THANK YOU!
If any of you want your logo going up and down the mountain all weekend, contact me through this forum or at larryhigh@hotmail.com. I've got a blank hood and two blank quarter panels. You supply the decals and I'll put them on the car at no cost to you other than the cost of the decals. I want to do this as my way of saying thank you. I encourage everyone else competing to do the same thing.
I can't wait....

Thanks Larry. If you get me the logos or what you want it to read, I'LL MAKE the vinyls! I need one volunteer to have "Graham County Travel & Tourism" on their car in appreciation for Cheri and her's staff's hard work! Now, if we can get SCCA to turn things loose so we can open registration! <gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr> tedebayer is turning into a grizzly. We are waiting on them.... semi-patiently. Dagmar's dad passed away in Germany so I'll be heading over there for a few days for the funeral. I'll be staying in touch by email and on forum. Thanks to all for your support and help! editor@thesouthenrdriver.com Ted

What rules/requirements will rally cars run under? The same ones that their respective logbooks are issued by?
For example, will I be required to run arm restraints for the hillclimb if we're not required to in NASA Rallysport? Will nomex socks be required if we don't have to wear them for regular rally use?
Any info (including costs) would be welcome since the registration site is currently not working. Any guess on number of passes?
