I'm selling my 1988 Audi 80 Its been a great car (took me all through college, grad school, and a bit longer)....but is in need of some repair/modification. I really don't want to see the car just junked, and if you have the time, space, knowledge and a little cash to invest, it would certainly be road-worth, or would be a great rally car.
What it needs:
--Will need some differential work, I was quoted $700 for a reassembled one from a local mechanic
--New battery (old one just died since it wasn't being used regularly)
--Paint wouldn't hurt, but not necessary
--Some minor touches to the interior (basic cleaning, headliner could stand to be re-applied)
What it has going for it:
--New tires (purchased them less than a month before the differential probs)
--Engine seems to be in otherwise great shape, I have complete service records (and I do mean complete) records)
--Car has never been wrecked....just a FEW very MINOR scratches that are barely noticeable
Other details/options:
--In-line 4-cyc, automatic transmission (this is NOT a Quattro, therefore easier to work on, still handles GREAT)
--4-door, P/W, P/L, Sunroof (metal, not glass), stereo
--Many parts interchangeable with VW
--I can provide transport of car to many places in WNC
It was my intent to work on this car myself and enjoy it in the mtns on weekends.....but between a lack of time and appropriate space, its a lost cause. I'd prefer not to just junk the car....it could still be a road-worth car if fixed up, but could also be converted into a rally/track car. I have been asking $1200 in local newspapers, etc.....I'm willing to take $1000
I do have some pictures---can take more upon request---but haven't figured out how to post them on here. Email me with any questions/comments at browne-co@charter.net The car is in Asheville, NC and you are welcome to come review the car by appointment.
