Man that stuff is complicated.
I hope you make it Randy.
It's not complicated at all.
In order to compete in, or even attend a non-spectator SCCA event, everyone on the grounds must sign an SCCA waiver.
Minors can't sign a waiver, and be held legally responsible for the signing of the said waiver. Thus a minor's parents must sign the waiver, and give their acknowledement to the fact their child is participating in or attending an SCCA motorsports event while giving their permission for that minor to do so.
Being of legal age, you can make that decision for yourself. A minor can not make that decision for his/her self, and be held legally responsible for that decision by the courts.
Everyone who participates in an SCCA event should know and understand this. Without this SCCA law (and I refer to it as a law - not just a rule), the events in which we love to participate could not be held.
I'm sure Pdawg, our Chief Solo Safety Steward, would agree. Had he seen the original post first, he would have addressed it first.
In many ways, we veterans all have the responsibility of being Solo Safety Stewards whether licensed or not, and should lend our guidance to those whom do not understand the laws and rules which govern our sport.
It is the reponsibility of all of us to know and understand these rules, so our sport can continue.
