How do you race for points? How are they awarded? Do you have to be a member of SCCA to get points?

Points are awarded by your finishing position within your class. Add all of each drivers points up and the highest wins for the season. Don't know if membership is required.
On the old site we had a points page that showed who was where for each class. Hopefully that'll be added to the new site.

To the best of my knowledge: - You must be a CCR SCCA member to qualify for season championship points
- Participate in at least 5 of the 9 points events
- Run the same class all season, although you can run a different car in the same class
Points are awarded as follows: 1st - 9 2nd - 6 3rd - 4 4th - 3 5th - 2 6th - 1 Season champions receive a nice trophy at the end of the year banquet and of course bragging rights.

Something that needs adding to this: Any other place beyond 5th gets one point, i.e. as long as you show up and get at least one non-DNF run, you get a point.

If you join mid season, do you get the points for the races you've already run?
