Uh.....
They are going to sue a church? What a world, what a world.
Contract schmontract. Autocrossers should feel privelaged to use ANY site. It is not their "right" to use someone else's property. It is a mutual agreement. They should swallow their pride and look elsewhere for a site.

Maybe instead of a lawyer, they should invest in a spellchecker or proofreader for the website. Yikes!
As for suing a church, that's ridiculous. When SCR had a site moved at the last minute, they looked for another one (and thanks to CCR, found one). They didn't sue anyone. Showing you are overly litigious will make ANY site reluctant to deal with you.

I'll agree to sue a host that had a change of heart is wrong. People talk, and talk and talk. Which means everyone who autocrosses will suffer a little from it should it happen. I suppose that they will most likely think it over and not do it. More than likely they were quite upset over it and wrote that a little hasty. To sue a church is rediculous? Why should they be exempt from litigation? Again, I do think it is the wrong course of action though.

I should say suing that church for this reason is wrong. There are any number of valid reasons that someone might sue a church. This isn't even close to one of them.

I agree. I think they will reconsider. Glad no one thought I was making a dig at any church. Religion is something I would never attempt to bring up in any such forum.

In general, I think that trying to sue ANYONE from backing out of an autocross agreement would be a bad idea... unless the site refused to give a refund if money was paid.

Breaking contracts is breaking contracts. I don't know the details so I can't comment on what I think should or should not be done, but there's no reason to treat a church any differently than any other legal entity.
Considering Foothills is trying to get something started and build a reputation, this was a major blow to them to lose a site.. especially on such short notice. Like I said, I don't know the details, so I'm not taking any sides... the church could have been misinformed about the type of event.
