Kewl. Thanks for the info. I feel much better about it now. I guess that helmets and "chatterboxes" aren't going to be necessary. Scott Franklin www.NutDriver.org

Not sure what a "chatterbox" is...but it sounds interesting...I always thought it was a tall, leggy blonde (wishful thinking perhaps?)
I am gonna bring my helmet, just in case they want us to wear them. But, I will leave the firesuit at home.

In this context, a "chatterbox" is a communication system between the driver and the instructor. Not going to turn down any tall, leggy blondes, though. :-)

Well this little project sure has generated some noise. So far, 10 brave soles have registered to ride around and provide insight into how someone might drive these pretty little Mercury cars, while attempting to get these new drivers to join our little merry band of tire squealing, rubber burning, and brake smoking cone chasers. We need two (2) more to jump on board and make a few extra dollars to help buy “one” of four new tires for the next autocross.

Can non SCCA members participate?

Hmmm. Loboracer could answer that, but I don't see why not. It isn't an SCCA event.

I don't see that being a big problem. They can join for the day.

We are in urgent need to at least two (2) more riders for the Mercury Tour event at the New Northlake Mall June 2 & 3. What a great opportunity to introduce CCR to possible new members While getting PAID. $150.00 for the day is Almost 20 bucks an hour.

June 2nd AND 3rd? I thought that it was just the 3rd. Could we get some more details on schedules, expectations, needed equiptment, etc. Thanks. Scott "Righty" Franklin www.NutDriver.org

Just want to say Thank You to all the people who have signed up for this event.
Yeah, it may be a bit boring but you ARE doing something that helps the club. You earn money and the club earns money. That's a good opportunity and I appreciate your assistance in making it happen.
Martin. CCR R.E.
PS: If you can steal a Mercury Mountaineer, we could use it for a Solo tow vehicle. Thanks.

For $150 and nothing else to do on that day, I'll talk to people about those... That's 2 Azenis... well almost.

Spoke with Nancy McMaster Fritts at SCCA National a little while ago. She explains that when they had the event at Denver (which she attended), they had a little course set up for "the man on the street" to drive the Murcurees around. Our role, basically (my words, not hers) is to ride along with them and make sure they don't do anything too silly in the car. No helmets needed, no chatterboxes, just riding along and babysitting. She said that she's not sure how things will be set up at Northlake, but she doesn't expect anything like an autocross course, performance driving, or anything like that. This is largely a chance for folks to test drive the Mercury line-up without the pressure of having a salesman breathing down their necks. Thought everyone who had already signed-up would like to know and maybe one or two who had been concerned about signing-up will feel more at ease. Scott "Righty" Franklin www.NutDriver.org

Well I actually had a pretty good time. I was really liking it towards the end when the line was long and I ended up staying in the loaded Mountaineer chilling in the A/C till the end of the event . I thought the hybrid SUV was pretty cool. It must have a super durable starter on it or some sort of special setup that integrates with the big electric motor to get away with turning the gas engine on and off so often! -JWM
