Guys, this was one heck of a weekend. Extremely efficient on Saturday, and even more efficient on Sunday.
Lot of people stepped up to work.
Special thanks to Soloracer & MrsVlad. The waiver table worked great, and there were no lines at registration.
Special thanks thanks to Sue and Mark for what they always do.
Special thanks to the Findlan Family for their constant efforts to improve the environment at every event.
Special thanks to Rich and Casino for busting thier butts on Tech at every event.
Now, let's step it up even more. Let's take some of the load off of Steven. Let him be the Brains, Eyes, and Ears of CCR/Solo - The rest of us should be the arms and legs. He has done too much for too long - it's our turn to step up.
After the last event, the forum produced ideas that led to efforts that produced efficiencies.
Let's do it again now.

I think that this event ran very smoothly.
The wavier table was great! I don't think I ever saw a long line at registration.
It seemed like Steven was pretty relaxed this weekend. Casino said he even saw him sit down with Sheryl, have a hot dawg and talk with her for a little while.
What do we need to do better?
I'd like to see a time printout like SCR uses.
I'd like to have a few more people working tech so Mike and I can actually walk the course more than 2 times. We're working on that, we gave Mike Martin (Mazdaspeed with the big wing) and Ken (100% BSN) some schoolin on Sunday.
Whoever works the waiver table in the AM needs to tell people to go to registration and pay before coming to tech. We had a few that went through tech first and we didn't know if they'd registered and paid yet.
So... great event, great improvements! Let's keep 'em going!!

I'd like to see a time printout like SCR uses That would be really cool. I can bring a thermal printer to the next event if ya'll want to give it a try. I think the biggest thing that needs to be improved is getting the results posted sooner!

We had a few that went through tech first and we didn't know if they'd registered and paid yet. OK, I'll do that. Hmmm - we had discussed having a little card or sheet with basic instructions that we could now hand out at waiver table for those that need it. Something like this: 1. Sign waiver 2. Safely park vehicle(s) where no one else has already parked/staked claim 3. Go to registration and politely stand in line until registered. Do NOT ask the registrar if your Pontiac Fiero with a Ferrari 512 motor is in E-stock. 4. Take your car safely/slowly to Tech line. Shut off motor during Tech inspection! 5. If you do not know your car class - there are rulebooks on site with many members and they can assist. If they have time the Tech staff may be able to assist in classing your car. 6. Safely park car - do not leave it on a jack unattended. 7. Walk course 8. Attend MANDATORY drivers meeting There is a handy Dandy classing chart that I was going to print and have copies of at last event, but never could get it to print in color. May be good to have that available at Tech for those who have questions. Good events! Had a blast!

Thank you for the kind words on Waiver table. Am just glad we could help. It was a great weekend for me. Enjoyed meeting the fine folks as they came in. One of the more memorable for me. Hope everyone was o.k. with the system. Noticed a few things that we can fix for the next event (2 clipboards, better pens). A rewarding experience, and anothe step closer to being a door greeter at Wal-chinamart. James

James Might not be a bad idea to hand out to n00bs and novices as not everyone who's never been to an event before checks the boards/shows up with an experience seasoned veteran. We need to find a way to class people as no matter what you're going to do, people are going to be confused as to their class and we need some place to send them (not registration) to help them out. Registration can get congested enough. We need like another table with someone, or someone to eaves drop registration to help with car classing. I'm not sure if it's been posted here but I think another region has a cheat sheet for classing/cars etc that would make it an easy reference. And leaving a rule book at a table telling someone to class themselves isn't an option as that rule book can be confusing enough for the expert autoxers!!!

AT a social long ago we talked about having a gregarious type greet folks and offer to answer questions. We could have a greeter with a copy of the book handy...

Yes, we have a printer. It takes thermal register rolls but, the roll holder is missing and has been replaced with an ink pen barrel. I'll get some rolls of paper before the next event...promise. MarkT PS: Sorry I forgot it for the last event, it was closed in by the cones...which I had to unload...because I had to unload the entire van...it died on the way home Sunday and needs to be towed to either a shop or the cememtary...

Since Sunday was my first ever CCR autocross, I noticed some things you all might have become used to:
1. Registration table should have signs or something pointing it out. 2. I had no idea how pre-grid worked, or that there even was one. 3. Tech (like regisration) should be clearly marked (and perhaps in a less congested area). 4. Is there any way to see results AT the event? If I'm in pre-grid or on course, I have no idea how the rest of my class is running. I go to autocross for competition. If there are no results, there is no competition
Granted, this may all be my lack of effort on my part, but I'm a veteran autocrosser and had trouble with these things. I, at least, knew to look for registration, tech, pre-grid and resuts; A newby would be lost beyond belief.
Not whining, just trying to help. Brad

If there are no results, there is no competitionHave you ever seen live results during a heat at autox events in other regions? I don't see how that's possible without some kind of electronic leader board, which is beyond the budget possibilities of most clubs. I've never seen anything like that at any local event across 3 regions or at any SE divisional. I think there's plenty of competition without a live leaderboard, you could listen to the announcer and write times down. Or you could politely ask your competitors how they are running.

Actually, I have seen this, SFR and others do a printout after each heat and post it on a board. However, that is not what I meant. Other than the announcer and the display, are the times EVER posted at the event? It would be nice to know how we did prior to leaving the event. This is the first time I have ever left an autocross (I've been to a couple hundred) without knowing my class results AT ALL. Brad

I'm not sure why they were this past event.

Brad No offense and please don't take this the wrong way. . . but part of showing up to the event as a newbie is asking questions and grabbing someone (and really, anyone) that's around working on their car questions to how the whole thing works. (usually some car with magnets. . . as those are usually seasoned vets). Doing course walks/getting aquainted wtih someone and just not being afraid to ask questions. I'm not sure that there's a way to spell it out other than having someone show/explain the day of the event. It's not something that paper could necessairly do justice for. Just like you can't explain a course walk and racing lines on paper in a "coverall" application. . . it's something that's picked up and learned on the fly. But that's my two cents. . .

As far as competiton was concerned.....certain announcers gave competitors rankings as soon as your car came off of the course. Not all of them did though. I think heats 1 & 2 only, I know it didn't happen during heat 3, at least I didn't hear it. Could've been Micheal's car though Also, times were available after the event. I hung around during the fun runs to find out, and knew exactly what my times were before I left. My $ .02 worth
