Okay. My Skil 14.4 volt cordless drill, the one I always use to speed changing the lug nuts on my car at autocrosses- the battery won't hold a charge. No problem, sez I, off to Lowe's to pick up anudder battery pack. Woh. New battery pack is $40 bux- plus, I found out that my charger evidently gave up the ghost? Well, that's anudder $20 fast ones. He**'s Bells! A new outfit is only $60 bux!
So, I caved and bought the new outfit to get the battery pack and charger. And now I have a spare drill. I'll keep the shiny new one for backup.

Oh, now i know why i still use a lug wrench. Ya know? one of those things that looks like a big X? About 5 bux at any parts store. And faster than a cordless drill.
*REMINDER* USE A TORQUE WRENCH TO CHECK YOUR WHEELS.

I have a $30 cordless impact from harbor freight I picked up for 30 with a 2 year rebate! FTW! I love a woman that will shop for tools!! Just looked on their site, only one that's under $100 that's worthwhile... www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=9279819.2 volt, 220 ft. lbs. torque... not bad.

That's the one I should have bought lol. No, it is not. I returned that one, since it will not remove a lug nut torqued to 80 ft-lbs. I bought one of the 'Goodyear Racing' 24V ones that are sold at PepBoys, and it's the best 90 bucks I ever spent on a tool. Makes things MUCH faster since you don't have to break the lugnuts loose while the car is on the ground. This one: dtpphoto.com/galleries/20060715photos/images/D2C_4694.jpg

But i'll keep that one in mind incase I ever want to splurge. My bf has been at the last few events with me and since he's got a real job and is a track buff, owns a real snap-on impact he got off ebay. That thing rocks, if he forgets to charge it in the night before, he can charge it in for like 10-20 minutes before we leave in the morning and we're set for the day. He's had the thing for like 3 years now and the batteries haven't gone bad or anything. He's also got a car charger for it. I guess I'll keep him around.

OK folks, mine is a $450.00 1/2 inch drive Snap-on unit. 18.6v with charger that works on all my other Snap-on elec. stuff. Now, before you all chime in on the price, just remember, I use it every day at work. It has been taking tires off, plus other tough bolts & nuts for 3 1/2 years with no trouble at all. It has also been to just about every race track in the SEDiv, and my crew chief (my son) loves it. Quality stuff.

O.K. I stand corrected. I was thinking cordless drill. Haven't paid enuff attention. Did not know some had that much torque. Was counting on Having to break loose with another tool first. Then a 4-way is faster.
Gotta check My catalogues, and pay attention to cordless tools. James.

My setup consist of a 24" breaker bar, a cordless drill & a torque wrench, each equipped with a 17mm socket. Other than using a cordless impact gun, I don't see how any other method could possible be faster.

;D ;D ;D ;D Well I guess mine's cordless, it's a 40 year old (at least) Craftsman x-lugwrench that usta be my dads. The batterys (what batterys) never go down and it's got all the torque it needs, (I always check with a torque wrench, but I get em pretty close), and if ya know what yer doin, they really are just as fast as a cordless, maybe not as quick as one of them NASCAR air guns, but it Gits 'er dunn. Plus its got 4 differnt sizes an ya never haf ta find the right socket !!!
