This question may be answered in the other threads, but I don't have time to wade through the 5 pagers.. so please forgive me if this question is redundant. What are the details of the 24 hr auto-x? (I'm a newb to the auto-x scene this year). We race for 24 hours straight? Is this the event where all of the different clubs compete against each other? I see that it's a points event -- does it count as two seperate points event or just one? Thanks for your help!

What are the details of the 24 hr auto-x? (I'm a newb to the auto-x scene this year). We race for 24 hours straight? Not exactly. We autocross for 24 hours. It's Points Event #7 in the CCR/SCCA 2005 Series, and works just like any other autocross except during your run group you can run as many times as you are able to get your car to the line. During the 24 hour period, you can declare 5 runs as official, and you must declare them before each of the runs. These will be the times that count for the official results. Is this the event where all of the different clubs compete against each other? I believe the event you are referring to is the NCAC (NC Autocross Championship) which is a 2-day event in Greensboro. If you look at the schedules, you won't need to filter through the theads. Here are the CCR and NCAC links: ccrscca.com/solo.htmwww.soloii.com/

Oh c'mon John, you're well in 1st place in the SCR season standings and they let you drop two events from the final points tally, this is a no brainer, you need to come out and support the club. Here's your chance to go for individual ST2 glory as well as help bring home the Club Cup. Do it!

Ok here is another question. How does the autocrossing work. Do they run for 24 hours in 4 different groups? Or do you run when you want. Do you get time to sleep? Are you able to leave the track to get food? Are the fees the same as the other events? (meaning if you do the whole 24 hrs are you paying $60?)

You can sign up to run one 12 hour block (noon to midnight or midnight to noon) or the entire 24 hours. Regardless you can drive whenever you want and leave the site whenever. The fees are something like $30 for one 12 hour block ($25 for members) and $60 for 24 hours ($50 for members). Essentially you get as many practice runs as you want (there's one big line) and declare up to 5 official runs at the start line at any time.

So their are no groups like the regular events? Is there no workers then?

|
|
Post by autoxdad on Aug 6, 2006 17:21:28 GMT -5
There are workers. Everyone has to work. If you sign up for the 12 hours , then you have to work one 2 hr shift and if you sign up for 24 hrs then you have to work two 2 hour shifts

OK so now I'm confused. sleeper said there is one big line.
so how do you know when you have to work? Are their groups like the other events?

There are no groups. You will sign up for work shifts by 2 hr shifts. You must work your shift or shifts and when you are not working you can run and get back in line and run again and again or take a break and go home or watch or whatever. Work shifts must be signed up for but then you are free to do whatever when not working.

You will sign up for your work assignments when you register at the event.

If you have to pay twice, is it considered as two events, points for the first half, points for the second half?

Do you get to declare 5 Official runs in each 12 hour period, or just 5 for the whole 24 hours??
|
|
|
Post by fastfrontier on Aug 7, 2006 6:26:41 GMT -5
Doesn't matter if you do 1 or both of the 12 hours it is one points event. Also, you only get to declare a total of 5 official runs in the total of the the 24 hours.

I just couldn't live without a truck, so I got a Dodge Dakota that I will be running ;D . Not sure which would be faster, the truck or the Hybrid, (my money is on the truck, though). I might see if the wifey can bring the Civic out for a couple of fun runs for the heck of it.
