From what I've heard it's a durable tire that isn't quite as fast as the Hoosiers or V710's but is better than street tires, and has really bad tire noise at high speeds. I've not personally driven on them.
If you're going to keep running 14" wheels, I have a set of 14" V710's available in the classifieds. With that said, 14's aren't really legal for an HF in stock class, since they were only available from the factory with 13" wheels.
I do have some Yokohama Advan A048 205/60R13's (spec racer ford takeoffs) I could be persuaded to let go for a reasonable price.
By the way, did you happen to find an extra green folding chair in your stuff after the Charlotte Motor Speedway event? I left it near your car while I was changing tires, and you left before I could get it back.

;D ;D ;D ;D AS A MATTER OF FACT, I DO HAVE YOUR CHAIR. WHEN WE WERE LEAVING LOWES, NOBODY KNEW WHO'S IT WAS, AND I'VE ASKED EVERYBODY I'VE SEEN THAT WAS CLOSE BY AT LOWES, THEY ALL HAD THEIRS, ARE YOU COMING TO THE 24 HR, I'LL BRING IT TO YOU THERE. AS FOR THE TIRES, I FOUND A SET OF 13" ALLOYS I'M GOING TO RUN, (DIDN'T KNOW I WASN'T LEGAL UNTILL LOWES) AND THE YOKOHAMAS ARE THE ONLY THING I'VE FOUND THAT WILL WORK ON A 13" WHEEL, (175/60-13), THE 185 HOOSIERS NEED AN 8" WHEEL, (THAT WON'T WORK), THE TRACTION T/A'S I'VE BEEN RUNNIN ARE PRETTY GOOD FOR A STREET TIRE, BUT THEY DON'T MAKE ANY 13'S, ANY SUGGESTIONS ON ANY OTHER STREET TIRE, OR LOOKS LIKE IT'S THE YOKO'S, JUST NOT SURE HOW THE 175/13 WILL STICK, PROBABLY GIVE ME A LITTLE NEEDED GEAR THOUGH, WHAT DO YA THINK??

I had a set of A032Rs back in 2002-2003 before they split it into hard and soft compound. I got them just before a 2 day track event at Road Atlanta. I put about 100 laps on them at RA and got about 10K street miles out of them, including about a half dozen autocrosses. From what I remember, they were very sticky -- better than the Michelin Pilot Sports I had been running. I have a little trouble comparing them to other autox tires because I was very much a noob back then and probably overdrove the crap out of them all the time. Also, I'm not sure how that older single compound compares to the hard & soft compound they now offer. There was one downside other than the rapid wear -- NOISE!! Between about 35-45mph they sound like the huge mud tires you see on jack-up redneck pickup trucks. The noise is definitely more tolerable above or below that speed range, but I have NEVER heard a louder set of street tires.

Don't worry too much about the recommended wheel widths. The 185 hoosiers would work fine. I've seen as much as a 225/45R13 Hoosier on a 13x5 wheel, and I ran 225/50's on 14x5 wheels in G-stock. It's not optimal but the extra rubber does add grip, even without the 'proper' sized wheel.

Jeff, last year my ASP wheels were standard BMW width 7 inches, and I ran 225 Hoosiers with no issues at all. In fact, I believe the rec wheel width for the 225 was something like 6 to 9 inches, so it seems like the 185 shouldn't be a problem on a 7 inch wheel.

I believe the factory HF wheel size is 13x4.5 or 13x5 (I forget which exactly). Both of which will accomodate just about any r-compound made (though some sizes will upset the tire shop).

The wheels I've got are 13 x 5 stock Honda alloys, the only R-tires I have found that will fit a 5" wheel are the 175/60 Yokohamas, the 185 Hoosiers require a 6"-7" wide wheel, and I haven't found any other R-tire that will fit a 5" wheel, anybody know who makes 'em ? Of course I'm really leanin twords the Yokohamas, unless someone gives me a reason not to...... ...and THANKS for all your input, I REALLY appreciate it!!

The Hoosiers do not require a 6" wheel, that's just the bottom of the recommended range.
If I was buying R-comps for autocross, I'd go with the V710's again. They're very fast, handle a lack of camber well, are very durable, and are cheaper than the Hoosiers. Their 215/50 WR13 size ($133 each) will fit just fine on 13x5 wheels, and be very, very fast.

Yes, they will look pinched, and the car may not 'feel' as good in transitions, but the level of grip will be higher. This has been the case in every racing class (Solo Stock, Showroom stock, Improved Touring, etc) where rim width is limited but tire size is not. They should be mounted on wider wheels, but the rules do not give us this option. For example, Robert Carpenter's 2001 E-Stock national championship was won on 225/45R13 Hoosiers on 13x5 wheels in an 85 CRX Si.
Another example: on the 99 Miata sport with 15x6 wheels that has won the last four CS national championships (and the last 5 CSL champs) the tire most national competitors run is the 225/45R15 size.
The best wheel for a 175/60R13 may be a 13x5, but the best racing tire for a 13x5 is not the 175/60R13.

autoxcrx, I've got a set of those yoko's you speak of, 185/60/13. I like em. Drove around on them for a few days and had WAY to much fun on the street. So, I am saving them for the 24hr. Mine arent to noisy, no worse than my falkens. So, the yoko's get my thumbs up.

I will double check the model and size and get back to you.

I didn't read the whole thread so take that with a grain of salt. . .
The tires you speak of, A032r's, have been discontinued so whatever you find in the warehouses are what's left.
They're good tires in the rain, but if you want to be "competitive" there are better options out there. And I agree with MattP suggestion of the V710's.

Thanks! I really appreciate everybody's help ! Has anybody had any expierance with Toyo R888's ? I found some info on these yesterday. They are supposed to be makin a 185/60 and a 205/60-13, (I think the 185's should be perfect for me), one dealer told me they should be available in a month or so, couldn't give me any pricicng. The reviews I read were all from England/Europe, and compared them to Hoosiers, said they were pretty close....

Jeff, like I said above, I have some used Yokohama ADVAN A048's in 205/60R13 that I'd sell for a c-note (and a green folding chair). They used to be the Spec Racer Ford rear tire, so the grip isn't on the level of a V710 or a Hoosier, but they'd be cheap and you wouldn't have to spray them to keep them cool.

Ok just looked at my tires. I've got Yokomama Advan A048's 185/60/13. Sorry not the same ones but close I think. I'm about to go mount them on my car.
Decided to drive and run on DOT tires so I dont have to do a whole bunch of changing on Saturday. I have to much going on and I have to come back to charlotte after my runs sat. Then I'll go back up late sat night. So i'm gonna swich to SM2(SSM) when i get there friday night.
Also, does anyone have some spare room on a hotel floor that I may use Friday and Saturday?

How used are the 205/60-13's?? I'm looking for something to run all next season, don't want something half worn out,. And I've talked to a lot of tire reps the last few weeks and they all tell me the same thing,... go by the manufactures recomendations as far as wheel size vs tire size, they usually know what they are talking about, a radial likes a wide wheel, not a narrow one, and if you have to run a narrow wheel, get a tire that will work with it, not something too wide, you will just be chasin yer ass. So since I gotta run the 13x5's I think the 175/60-13's are the best choice. And those 85-86-87 si wheels on your 90-91 si have the wrong offset to run stock class don't they ??

They're at between 4/32" and 5/32" tread depth. They were probably only used by a Spec Racer Ford for one or two track sessions. It's a harder compound than most autocross tires, so I have no doubt that it would last all year. That said, I think the 13" V710's are the fastest and best option, and they also would likely last all year if you rotated them front to back every event. On the other hand, they'd be five times more expensive than these particular used tires. As for the wide tire on narrow wheel, I highly qualified that advice. If wheel width is limited by rule and your goal is to go as fast as possible in road racing or autocross and you are using racing tires, use as wide a tire as you can fit on the rim, especially if the stickier compounds are only available in the wider sizes. The wheels I had for sale have been sold, and they were '86-'87 CRX Si wheels that measured 14"x5". The offset was within 1/4" of the stock wheels for my car. '85 CRX Si wheels are 13"x5" wheels. How used are the 205/60-13's?? I'm looking for something to run all next season, don't want something half worn out,.
