Carowinds is one exit down, so anything there... There are some places at I-77 / Arrowood Road exit, sorry, don't know the names off the top of my head. That's one exit up. Anything in Pineville is close, about 5 miles away.
Hope that helps!

If I had to stay at a hotel I would pick the Fairfield Inn off of Arrowood, it's $79 through Orbitz and a really nice clean hotel: Fairfield Inn by Marriott Arrowood 7920 Arrowridge Boulevard Charlotte, NC 28273 It's only about 1.5 miles from Continental Tire.

DON"T USE ORBITZ TO BOOK! They charge about 10 bucks more that the rate of the hotel than if you call the hotel yourself. I checked by bringing the two websites up next to each other on the computer.
I'm staying at the Marriot. 5.7 miles away. Very nice suite, but it's 120.(with taxes) Wifey said no more super8 slums. ;D

That's not always the case. The Fairfield Inn example I posted lists both $79 on Orbitz and the hotel site. I've also booked hotels on Orbitz that are cheaper than the hotel direct. I agree though that you should always compare by calling the hotel to make sure you're getting the best price.

Anybody know if there is grass space for tents? In the pic below, the area below the grid (green box) is a really nice big lawn with well maintained grass...whether we are allowed to camp there is unknown.

Is there going to be any security? Not sure I want to camp out in south Charlotte on a Saturday night.
Got reservations at a friends house.
