Yeah, I know this may be a stupid question,...but if ya don't know, and ya don't ask,... Are there any rules about changing tires 'during" an event. I just got my new ones and I'm thinking instead of wearing them out at the 24 hr, I'll make a bunch of laps on my old tires, learn the course, then put on my new ones and try to post a few quick times. (At least I hope it works out like that) Hey, Thanks to all of ya for your advice and input.

Nope, no rule against it... Per did it last year at the 24. Went from street tires to V710s and cut 3 seconds.

Folks do it all the time from local to National events. Your plan is the way to go; finish off the old ones so that you can really appreciate the time difference of new tires. -Biggly

I have changed as few as two sets for the 24 hours, and as many as 6 sets.. usually this is my "use up all the tires" shot.
I have also changed Shocks (2 sets, 6 combos, I think it was a total of 6 changes at the event once i went back to the set I liked the best) and brakes, and all kinds of other little stuff.

;D ;D Thanks !!! I'm gonna wear out whats left of those T/A's , put on the Yokohamas and see what I can do!! I've put about 200 miles on 'em, to heat cycle 'em like they told me to, drove 'em to work a couple of times, (Rock Hill to Charlotte, 'bout 22 miles each way plus a few extras taking the crooked back roads) and a few hours during the weekend, they seemed to be doin' pretty good, tight quick turns got REAL quick, then I tried tried the old street tires again, (Traction T/A's with maybe a 1/16" of tread left), THATS WHEN I SAW THE DIFFERANCE !!! Turns that were gettin real easy,... GOT REAL HARD,...I was pushin' an squealin' like crazy!! Brian Guinn (who always beats me) told me sticky tires were like drugs, once ya try a set,... ya can't go back! Just hope these are good enough to beat YA!!! (Sorry Brian ) YEEE_HAAAWWWWwwww!! ;D

Don't worry james - I may not have enough drivers to bring down the slowmaro, but I can let ya play with some race tires for some runs to see what a difference it makes. I hope to bring the camaro, but it might be a bit much with 2 trucks, trailer, Fiesta, Hot dog stand, etc. But we shall see!
For the Fiesta, we wiped out the big Goodyars up front and have bolted on some Avons. I have a couple of spare tires for the rear end, that can be used up front in a pinch. Looking to buy some new ones, but they won't be here in time. I expect we will have just enough to get through the day.

I have some old 14" Toyo RA-1's and 14" Victoracers on miata rims, if anybody wants to trade them for a decent street tire (for the duration of the race). It seems silly to waste r-comps as my warmup tire when I have to switch to Azenis for the official runs!
