Sue and I will NOT be at this event(that includes the AutoX on Sunday, too). I will make arrangements to have the van there with charged radios.

I don't have my schedule that far out, but I'd still like to help out since it's basically at my house. Can I do scoring/timing this time (since I'm still not feeling myself qualified to instruct, and the NASCAR boys didn't seem to want it anyways)?
Oooh! Or tech would be good!

Got some leftover red cans for the Fiesta!!! Its even GM Red!!
We could always use watercolors....
BTW - should we weld that door shut, or just take it off completely - Colin was confused and thought you were supposed to use a door to get in and out of a car.....

As for the work list - We appreciate all the volunteers who jump in on the list - sure helps make it easier.
One nice thing is that we can get the students to help work corners and pick up a lot of the normal work positions, such as grid. Would be good to have an experienced starter and the other positions (timing, etc) should be regulars.

Oh - he is all mine....He just forgot that the doors on old Camaros don't open and shut very well, and that he should have just climbed in! Nothing we couldn't fix with a screwdriver, tire iron and small sledge hammer...ROFL.. once the door was shut he went out and cranked out a time for SoloRacer to chase. He finally caught and beat him - but the kid did ok for only his first time in that car.

I can probably round up a roller if you don't have one... mark csp111

I'd also willing to be the starter if needed. I may have to trade out after a couple of hours if the knees start to give way though. I would be a greeter but I think the idea here is to encourage the NTI students, not scare them away.

Read section 3 of the 2006 solo rules book for information on vehicle safety requirements

Maybe you should wait a while before working tech. You should really be familiar with the concepts of safety before you try to tackle that one.
Threre's plenty more for you to do though, and we always need help.

I am familiar with the concepts of safety, I asked where your rules where. I wanted to be able to read the rules as advised. I've use to be apart of SCCA before back in 2002-2003 with a couple of American Sedan cars. If you are familiar with them my Boss, or owner of the vehicles was David Brown. Last I knew he was part of the Tech Inspect department for SCCA for their events as well as trying for Cheif since the fellow who was cheif was getting ready to leave. Honestly all I am wanting to do is help out since it didn't seem like many where volunteering for saturday.

No problem - the help is appreciated. Rich Little can walk you through what we check and things to look for (such as nitrous bottles in the trunk!!). Generally, we check wheel tightness, firm brake pedal, throttle spring, no loose items in car, empty trunk, battery properlay restrained, adequate seatbelts, and helmet (if present). Rich usually has a few other things he checks - especially on "new" cars that he hasn't seen before. Other things are to make sure that the owners shut off engines in tech line so we don't have any accidents and use common sense on whether or not a car appears to be in a safe condition.

Thanks for the reply. I read the section, but one thing to what you said as to what is written. it says to check for leaks while the engine is running. I know through most techs you don't have the engine running, hell the onces for the SARRC events we pushed the cars up so they wouldn't get hot. Is that rule more for if it's leaving fluid on the ground?

Normally if there is a fluid leak, we catch it at tech.
