I am familiar with the concepts of safety, I asked where your rules where. Really? I'm very sorry I questioned you. After reading your posts in the Passing Tech Inspection thread in the Novice Forum over the last couple of weeks....and since a couple of hours ago you were still looking for the tech info in the Solo National Rules........I didn't realize you'd come such a long way....welcome aboard.

Me and my friend want to volunteer for the saturday school. We are both newbies so you can put us wherever you want.

That would be most appreciated and there are a lot of places we can use volunteers. Take a look at the list Rich has at the top of this forum and if anything in particular interests you just post a reply - otherwise we can discuss at the morning of the event.
Thanks again.

And hey-- if anyone's got a pair or even a set of wheel dollies, bring 'em if you would. As much fun as it was rolling a full-size Dodge pickup across a sloped parking lot one the little jack wheels, it might be nice to be prepared for that to be an issue again.

02mazpro5 - Don't let JB get you too riled up... he likes causing trouble and getting his feathers in an uproar!
Generally the people that work tech have been autocrossing for a little while and the "key" people have gotten to know them. We want to know that the person doing the tech inspection will bring a car to the events that will pass tech inspection every time. DY started doing tech after he'd run a few events, same for me last year.
The one BAD thing about tech is it takes away course walk time, so for a newbie it may not be the best thing you can do... I usualy get 2 course walks at the most.

Yo, Rich. Let 02mazpro5 help James with Waivers. I'll help Mrs Findlan with Registration. That way no one gets a course walk. gigle giggle.... soloracer can tell Derek all about auto-x.

Rich- I pmed him about it all. I didn't want to come acrossed how i did. MrsVlad- i thank you for that, if you want to do that I have no problem with that. Is the saturday event open for anyone to come watch, like sundays event is? I have a guy coming from VA to do his first autocross. Even better he will be in SM.... Also what did you mean on your first post about the last even CCR let the people who worked get a comp for sunday?

We don't want the NTI school to have a lot of spectators like we tend to have at normal events, but it should be fine. He'll need to sign the waiver when he gets there.
Comp - CCR pays your entry for the AX on Sunday. I haven't heard if we're doing it this time or not. It's up to Steven. Even if you don't get a comp, you get some runs in on Saturday. We have to make sure the course is good for the students and we get to take them on runs at their lunch break.

I did not get a comp for working last time, and I think I remember it was because I didn't instruct. Either way, I like feeling like I'm helping, since others have done the same for me getting into the sport. Plus since it's so close to my house, and the fun runs were, well, fun, I've really got no excuse. Plus there was the free lunch!! YUM!

The reason we want engines shut off in the tech line is to avoid a car going into gear and having an incident before we even get out to run. Just a safety thing.

I understand that, thats what I was saying. What I was asking was why they said you check for fluid leaks while the engine runs in the rule book?

They want to make sure nothing is spitting out of the engine. I think that most of us can tell if something is leaking. Personally I don't want to put my hand into an engine bay with a running engine... unless its my own car and I'm tuning something!

The one BAD thing about tech is it takes away course walk time, so for a newbie it may not be the best thing you can do... I usualy get 2 course walks at the most. That may be because he walks slowly to imitate autocrossing on street tires...!!!! ;D ;D But seriously - hard to get in many course walks if you do tech, work assignments, registration, waivers, or any of the other morning work assignments - so try to work it out with whoever you are paired up with to get in a few at least.
