Looking into hotels around the Mooresville area... The last two events I attended at NTI, I stayed at the Sleep Inn right off of I77. Their prices are a bloated $143/night! Last time it was less than $90! Checked Fairfield's prices and they're touting a "Special Event Rate" of $164... My question... what is the "Special Event" in the area?

Check out the Holiday Inn or Econo-something or other in Cornelius. Just a couple miles away, but I've always gotten good rates at those. Not swanky by any means, but doable.

Wow, EconoLodge has a room for a mere $136... Looks like I may be driving the 160 miles up there on Sunday morning!
But then there are some hotels in Gastonia in the $60-$70 range...

Yikes, sorry about that. I just know we put our wedding party up at the Holiday Inn and they gave us a block of rooms for like $60 apiece. Yeah, what JByrd said, try statesville, only a few miles away in the other direction. If I knew ya at all I might have even offered a bed at my house instead of $136, that's redonculous!

You gotta remember, that is race weekend. Mooresville is also home to lots of race teams, so it is bound to be busy. There is a Holiday Inn in Statesville, you might try there. Also, if you can wait, a lot of hotels reserve rooms and then have "no shows" . They might open them up on Saturday.

VW, Thanks for the offer! As luck would have it, I already reserved a room at the Days Inn in Statesville. (only $65 for a non-smokey room). And it looks like the wifey may come up and be taking some pix. Maybe I can have her do a couple ride-a-longs.

if you want try carowinds or fort mill. we are a lot closer than 160 miles away. and there should be several hotels with cheap pricing (it should be far enough away from the race to not incur the SPECIAL EVENT pricing)
