On Saturday, for a $30 donation to the Red Cross, you drive a Z Coupe. This is part of the Eurofest Car Show which is worth the trip. Rumor has it there may be an M available.
This year's featured Marque is Triumph.
Sunday is the regular SCR autocross.

So... you *don't* have to pre-register using the PDF on the Euro fest website and pay $30 on top of $20 to autocross the Z4 on Saturday if you're not showing a car? Just show up Saturday morning with $30 in hand and take 3 runs in a Z4 M Coupe...? I'm in!

I'm really not sure there will be an M.

Ah... I just saw in the article on the SCR site "This year's car that we get to thrash is the brand new 2007 BMW Z4 M Coupe." I'll just hope it's right.

I went to this event a few years ago. The car show was cool but the autox was lame. They programmed the computers so that you can't turn off the traction and stability control, even if you know the proper procedure. I drove a Z3 and absolutely hated it (it wasn't until later that I found out why). If you're going to the event anyway, then by all means check out the charity autox. But, if you're going down there only for the autox, I suggest skipping it and coming Sunday instead.

I can verify a couple of things:
1. The cars are not specially set up by BMW to restrict traction control; however, since lots of novice drivers turn up, we're not advertising how to turn it off, either. If you know how, go ahead and turn it off; if not, you'll get apologetic shoulder shrugs from our workers if you ask. :-D
2. There will be M Coupes there; we're just not advertising on the flyer as such because we're not sure that all 10 cars we get will be M's.

Oh, and one more thing:
3. 3 runs. For sure.

the clemson crew is signed up... there should be a good ten plus people from clemson coming. marc osgood and devin clancey will be included in this. although devin will be driving one of the clemson club cars in prep for the grm challenge. although most of us will not make it for the sat show... espn gameday coming to clemson and it being against number 13 ga tech not to mention homecoming... its going to be one HELL of a weekend. not to mention getting up at 6 to head to this autox...

This year's featured Marque is Triumph. Sunday is the regular SCR autocross. I heard there will be more than one M coupe available for Saturday's autocross. The car show for this event will be around the Zentrum on Saturday - yes, Triumph is the feautured marque so my wife and I will be there with 2 of ours - the red TR6 I have been autocrossing this year and last year and the Triton (Lime) green TR8 I autocrossed for 2 years before that. BTW I drove the TR8 1,773 miles in 79 hours last weekend - 733 miles of undulating, twisting sports car Nirvana on America's British Reliability Run and 1,040 pleasantly uneventful Interstate miles to get there and back - I'll let you know when the pictures are posted. Cheers, Jack Mc
