any idea on what the course will be like for Sunday at NTI? I hear its a small lot (but that could be a bad rumor). How was the one back in the summer?
Any guesses on the lot configuration?
Hopefully the weather will be nice.

Come on out and find out. We have run a few events there and it is a decent size lot, but it does tend to limit you to a tight course configuration (when driven in a Camaro) that really works well for a Fiesta (tighter the better!).
Weather is supposed to be great.

Here's the setup from the July event... Red area - paddock (spill over to the front of the building) Blue area - grid Yellow area - start and van Green area - course

Sure is gonna be challenging driving between all those cars, ain't it? maybe we should all bring rollerblades...or rollerskates for those who are a few decades older than myself (gotta be inclusive)

any idea on what the course will be like for Sunday at NTI? Nope, see one of the features of autocross is no one is supposed to know the course (except the designer, naturally ) 'til the day of the event. Usually the course isn't even finished setting up until 9, sometimes 9:15, a couple times it's been even 9:30.I hear its a small lot (but that could be a bad rumor). How was the one back in the summer? Any guesses on the lot configuration? The NTI site isn't the largest we have, no, but it could be worse. Anyone who has done an event at the Ghost Town in The Sky parking lot at Maggie Valley NC should agree (no offense, Highlanders ) I think it's also superior layout-wise to the State Farm lot at ASU, which might be slightly longer, but is definitely narrower than NTI. (The pavement at State Farm might be better, altho it's been a couple years since we had events there). As to the configuration, Laguna's picture is mostly right, except I'd move that yellow box all the way left against the blue, and move that left green line over to include that next row. I remember that last course going right by that grass corner near the upper left corner of the green box. The main obstacles to course design at NTI are those grass "islands" you see in the middle left side of the green box. I think they were rather cleverly dealt with that last course. My kudos to whoever that designer was...

thanks clint...cant wait...
the real concern was safety with a small lot. i know i have not done many autocrosses (and only 1 with ccr at lowes), but small lots can up the danger level when you add lights (which i dont see in the pic), islands/trees, and two cars on the course at once. i do not mean to disrespect to the club or course designers.
the last course i did before the one at lowes was at a narrow site that had you run hard right toward a lamp post and you hit a near 90* left. there was much talk about what would happen in a spin out situation. luckily nothing happened. there was also a porshe that spun out (one rotation) an came too close for comfort to a fence. as it turns out, a few weeks later, there was an incident at that same location. car was totalled.
so, i am glad to hear the course was designed to avoid those grass medians. for me, this must be a very low risk activity, thats why i originally posted.
thanks to all who help make this a safe and fun event...see you all tomorrow
