Ok, this is both a question and a complement, but flat out, yesterday was the most fun I've had on a course in the 5 or so events I've done so far. Kudos to the course designer, as I think you did a great job considering this lot is among the smaller that we use, and since we had what, 130 drivers, things were done by just after 3, and with a late start at that.
Now, my question is why did I like yesterday's event so much more: either A) this weekend was the first time I've run slicks, granted they're RA-1s and so never even got close to temp, but still were a lot different than the bald street tires I've used before, or was it that B) the course was just a fun, well-designed one. I've not got the experience to answer this question.
It probably doesn't help that the weather was gorgeous too..... But man, I'm starting to realize the 'R-comps are like crack for drivers' thing.

R-comps and Race slix are incredible. You really get to feel what the car can do instead of the tires - it also shows up a lot of failings in a street suspension, but so what!
Y'day I never got the tire pressures right, nor the temps up enough (I run on road race slix) to really enjoy the course, but it was a good one with a couple of fast areas and some nice little tight portions to make you work a bit.
Glad ya'all had fun!

yesterday was the first time I've used R-Comps. What a difference! They stuck so well, they made my clutch slip!! Stupid clutch....

The course was awesome, too. I really liked the section heading back to the finish line. Wasn't so keen on the start, since I don't have the horsepower for a quick straight line start

I agree. The course yesterday was one of the best ones I've seen. Lots of fast with just enought twistys to make it interesting.

Ironically yesterday was the first day in 2 years I have not run race tires...and it was also my worst finish I have ever had in the CCR events. The course was great though, and that was not the problem. Tires make a BIG difference when traction is already the problem to begin with.

Nitro - nobody has traction problems like you! Thanks again for showing us what a good old Can-Am style/F-1 start looks like....Mark Donahue in his 917/30K couldn't have put on as good a show! We don't care what kind of time you post - Dang it sure is entertaining and fun to watch you run!

Yesterday's course WAS a lot of fun. So much fun, I broke my 2 front wheels!! Yup! Tore the hubs right out!!!! Fortunately, I noticed it as I was deflating my tires when I got home, and not while travelling down 77 @ 80 mph. So now I get to look for new wheels!!! Anybody got any stock wheels for a z, for real cheap?

So what's it like to go 80 on I-77? I don't think I can remember making it into 4th gear anytime recently.......
Seriously though, scary, and glad there was no more of an issue in it than the "Aw Dogpoop" moment when you realize how much those rims will set you back.
Your daughter looked like she was having fun yesterday, too!

Your daughter looked like she was having fun yesterday, too! She did. She loves to ride along with me. She thinks it's a roller coaster. I hate it when she comments "Dad, you could've been smoother through that corner and lost less time!!" ;D The little brat!!!!

They were for a '72 BMW 2002 TII. IF they fit. Only $500.... I should get more, but I like you.

Dude, You were not even on R compound how did you get enough GRIP on that cold surface to do any damage to the wheel? Did you het a curb and not notice it? I rmember from Physics that every force generates and equal yet opposite force. Sorry for the trouble though and definitely glad you made it home safely. Take it to the dealership and ask "What's up!!!" Typically OEM wheels are stronger and thus heavier than aftermarket wheels so that millions can drive them in all sorts of conditions without dmage. I wonder if your wheels were defective. Oh well I am now 3 cents beyond my 2 cents worth.
