I certainly do not want to imply any criticism or infer any constraints on the process followed, but I would like to clarify that the position of Solo Chairman is conferred by CCR's elected Board of Directors. The board may assign one or more people to lead committees for any specific purpose.
Therefore the BoD will invite any proposed replacement for the Solo Chair position to the next board meeting. We will hear from the current Solo Chair and, should a proposal be made to the board regarding the position of Solo Chair, we will take a vote, discuss, and abide by the results.
I wanted to explain the process because it has been written in this forum as though a done-deal was made by a group at a social evening. There IS a formal process for this change.
None of the above is to infer that the BoD is opposed to Dave McKenzie (or any other person that is interested) as Solo Chair. Neither are we oblivious to the popular concensus of our Solo participants.
If you have any specific concern, please email me at my address listed on this site.
Sincerely, Martin Bartlett CCR Regional Executive.

Well then, we the participants present (22) at the official October Social meeting, propose to the BoD, the acceptance of one, Dave McKenzie as the Solo Chair for 2007 by unaminous election and support.

Since when did the board of directors start to care about anything that went on in the solo world? Isn't it interesting that our regional executive posts in the forum as a guest - not even a member here. Of course the last post in the club racing forum was over 2 months ago. Oh wait. Maybe that part of the web page just hasn't been updated yet.

Everybody calm down. Martin is just saying that this has to be done by the rules, which is true. Steven had already asked me to go to the next meeting with him. You guys won't get rid of me that easy Dave

OK,
The reason I post in here as a guest is because I can never remember the damm password I gave to log in under.
I read the email about Waiver forms this last Sunday. I currently do not not have access to that email address except at weekends, and some of those I am busy at. I explained my time situation to the BoD at the start of this year and they accepted the situation.
Waivers can be requested by the person who applies for the sanction for a Solo event and they are sent free. They can also be requested by just about any SCCA member by calling Topeka. But I will call and get some more.
Its rather sad that people in this forum question both the BoD and my commitment to Solo (2). I guess some of you may have started participating within the last few years since I handed over to Steven. As there are also several regular Solo participants on the current BoD, I can assure you all that Solo is very well represented and that member input is regularly heard. Or do you think that Steven and Walter and others don't speak up.....
I'll also mention that the CCR BoD selects the person to be R.E annually and will have the option to choose one again just prior to the AGM. (I abstained from the vote last time).
Finally, I guess we need to progress better with getting the minutes of the BoD meetings posted on here. It is something we planned to do but have admittedly been slow in doing. It might lessen some concerns...
Regards, Martin.

Finally, I guess we need to progress better with getting the minutes of the BoD meetings posted on here. It is something we planned to do but have admittedly been slow in doing. It might lessen some concerns... Regards, Martin. I don't pretend to speak for everyone, but I certainly feel I'm in touch with a large number of our Solo Competitors. A better way to lessen concerns is to see the website up to date relative to our Solo Program. While it would be a good idea to post board minutes here, it probably would be a bad idea to post them before the results of past events and other Solo Information is up to date. If we (CCR Solo Community) are being ignored, it shows. If we are not being ignored, and there is some sort of "road block" that is in the way of information, then that obstruction needs to be fixed or removed. Many of us have waived hands in an effort to voluteer in helping remedy the situaltion. The CCR Solo Community has proven it stands ready and willing to do anything possible through the use of Voluteer Threads in this very forum. You and the board have asked for voluteers, and CCR Solo Participants have responded. It's time to fix what is broken. We're not asking for a lot.....just let us help.

John,
I would be grateful if you would desist from posting the flag slogan. If it is done to intentionally mock me, be upfront about it.
If it is unintentional, then please know that I find it offensive.
Thanks, Martin.

No offense was intended. Good natured mockery is a way of life on this forum.

However the process ends up, I for one fully support Dave as Solo Chair. I think it would be an excellent choice.
Sorry I haven't been able to attend any socials, I've been out of town on business quite a bit the last few weeks.
I'd still like to volunteer to be webmaster next season if that position is still open and desired.

I think that would work great, I would potentially take care of updating the front page, creating the myautoevents pre-regs, linking results, updating season points, etc. Meanwhile you could administer the forums. I think the both of us will be able to maintain an excellent CCR website.

Sounds like a plan. Now does anyone know how we go about getting 'official' approval for these guys to do this? Are there ANY objections to these guys doing this? Sounds like they are offering up significant time and energy to keep this place running smoothly.
Thanks for all of your efforts guys.

Yup - I went to the board meeting and for those who aren't aware of it - The Board concurred unanimously with Dave as our choice for Solo Chair. He has also been invited to attend Board meetings to represent the solo community (although he will not be a board member).
Congrats Dave!
