Front Page of CCR Website: Looking for a Few Members
CCR needs help in many areas to continue its growth and internal development of future chairmen, specialty chiefs and event coordinators. Immediate needs include Equipment Chairman, Editor of the Newsletter and Merchandise Coordinator, Information Booth, and Communications. Contact Martin Bartlett or Dick McCollister. I wonder if any volunteers have stepped forward? Considered?

I certainly do not want to imply any criticism or infer any constraints on the process followed, but I would like to clarify that the position of Solo Chairman is conferred by CCR's elected Board of Directors. The board may assign one or more people to lead committees for any specific purpose. Therefore the BoD will invite any proposed replacement for the Solo Chair position to the next board meeting. We will hear from the current Solo Chair and, should a proposal be made to the board regarding the position of Solo Chair, we will take a vote, discuss, and abide by the results. I wanted to explain the process because it has been written in this forum as though a done-deal was made by a group at a social evening. There IS a formal process for this change. None of the above is to infer that the BoD is opposed to Dave McKenzie (or any other person that is interested) as Solo Chair. Neither are we oblivious to the popular concensus of our Solo participants. If you have any specific concern, please email me at my address listed on this site. Sincerely, Martin Bartlett CCR Regional Executive. I wonder if this was addressed?

Sheryl and I were the only ones of the nominees for the BOD that attended the meeting. Russ didn't make it, James didn't get his e-mail until 6:30, so he didn't make it.
Interesting meeting... Hopefully Walter will be able to post the minutes for all to see.

There was no mention of anyone wanting to volunteer. Actually, the first 2 posts are the same issue. Thank you for your report, Rich. Exalted.

First, note that I am logged in! Yep, got my password emailed to me...
Second; At the BoD meeting I read the following from the club's By-laws:
"Non-racing Committees" - The Board of Directors shall appoint chairpersons to administer and operate any standing committees that the Board of Directors establishes for Non-Racing events such as Slaloms, Autocrosses, Time Trials, Road Rally’s, etc. as defined by SCCA rules. Such events shall be run in accordance with National SCCA policy with the exception of such rules alterations as may be recommended by the Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
The club has an established Solo Committee, chaired by Steven Rankins. Steve - a current BoD member - said that he was stepping down as Solo Chair. Steve made a motion to the board to elect Dave McKenzie as the new Solo chair. I think Walter Stone seconded the motion. The motion was discussed. The Board ascertained that anyone who was interested in this position had had an opportunity to declare their interest. The board heard of the support of the Solo community for Dave. We talked a bit about some of the background duties of this position (like audit reports to National office) and Steven said he would continue to help Dave. We gave Dave svereal opportunities to decline the position (!). A vote was taken by the BoD and Dave was unaniminously approved to be the Solo Chair.
While Dave is not required to attend BoD meetings, we did invite Dave to attend meetings as he saw appropriate.
There you are... all proper.
Sincerely, Martin Bartlett. R.E.

Steve Rankins informed the board that Jerry Hagan had expressed an interest in learning the Race Timing system (orbits) and made a motion that the BoD support Jerry in this and that we subsidize Jerry's travel to a race at Atlanta where he'll get some training. Steve requested a $100 towards travel expenses. Bob Thornton seconded. There was no further discussion and the motion was unanimously approved. Sheryl Finlan was in attendance. I spoke briefly regarding a situation relevant to Club Racing Registration. The BoD expressed appreciation for Sheryl volunteering but delayed any further action on that just yet. (the next club race is in February and we certainly grateful for Sheryl's offer to help with registration at it). Regards, Martin.

If I had known about it, and been invited, I would have shown up. Part of my bit is the vast majority of our members have no idea what is happening.

Russ Russ, The contact information we used is that which you supplied to National office. There was no email address on that list. Dick tried the telephone number but got no answer. I don't know if he left a message... it is the correct number, I just tried it!

The meeting went very well and I was impressed with the knowledge of the members about the Solo area and feel that they will be good to work with. I plan on going to the board meetings so feel free to bring any concerns to me or to any of the board members for discussion at the meetings. Dave
