OK, I've done some digging and I think I can make some half-way educated guesses on where I'll fit in, but I have a couple questions.
First, my car fits all the E-Modfied rules except one under the "Modified Tub" Section. My car is a former dirt street stock and has the engine slid back a few inches. Because of this, the firewall has been moved back and consequently, the stock floor pan has been shortened.
The "Modified Tub (18.1.B.2.d)" section of the rules states - "Vertical features above the bottom floor pan plan do not have to satisfy original size or shape. Note that the original length and width of the floor pan still have to meet the original dimensions."
That (along with the next rule) leads me to believe that you can build a new floor pan, but it must be the same overall size as the original. The next rule (f) is what confuses me. It says that cars with wheelbases over 93" can shorten their floor pans to reach a 93" wheel base and the floor pan length rule is waived for them. Can cars with wheelbases over 93" have shortened floor pans?
My car has a 108" wheel base. Will my shortened floor pan bounce me out of the EM class? Seems to me the floor pan rule is more to control wheel bases than floor pan size.
Second question - if the answer to the first question bounces me to the next level, I would be a "Sports Racer" as defined in 18.2. It says that production based cars prepared in excess to the 18.1 rules are eligible as Sports Racers only when prepared to the appropriate GCR/SRCS. What is the GCR/SRCS and how do I find out what is the appropriate one?
Sorry about the long winded post, but I want to make sure I'll have a class to race in if I convert this old girl into a Solo car.
